DIRECTOR OF CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

This role leads Category Management, Merchandising, and Pricing, driving sales growth and profitability. Strategically manages assigned departments/categories to enhance performance through tailored category plans, optimized assortments, effective floor plans, and competitive pricing. Collaborates cross-functionally to execute initiatives, lead teams, and develop vendor partnerships to capitalize on market opportunities. You'll exemplify leadership, fostering a positive work environment while ensuring strategic goals are met.

What You Will Do:

Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Develop and implement long-term category/department business plans and merchandising strategies to achieve profitable growth.
  • Align category goals with financial objectives and organizational vision.
  • Partner and provide strategic guidance to the private brand development strategy.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness in execution.
  • Continuously assess category performance and adjust strategies as needed.

Collaboration and Leadership
  • Collaborate with Store Operations, Field Teams, and other cross-functional departments to align on initiatives, labor models, and inventory management.
  • Direct field merchandising and visit stores to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide strategic guidance on private brand development and category innovation.
  • Direct the creation and execution of procurement, replenishment and inventory management strategies across all Divisions.

Vendor and Supplier Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring alignment with sales, service levels, and compliance.
  • Negotiate and hold vendors accountable for agreed-upon performance metrics and contracts.

Operational Excellence
  • Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards within the department.
  • Work with supply chain and logistics teams to optimize supply chain operations.
  • Institute methods and processes to constantly improve customer perceptions of the category, manage strategies to consumer insights for quality and image.
  • Conduct regular visits with stores, suppliers, and distribution partners; direct field merchandising to best understand and respond to needs/opportunities for assigned categories/department.

Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Category Management team to make informed decisions and drive operational excellence.

  • Bachelor's Degree
