Overview
As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing and controlling the scope of services as outlined in the contract documents. Your role will focus on the development and growth of the EAS Department mechanical engineering team. This position involves overseeing multiple, large and complex projects, ensuring that each one meets the highest standards of quality. You will also bring your expertise in identifying and converting project opportunities, developing proposal responses and presentations, and growing a successful Mechanical Engineering practice.
In addition to your managerial responsibilities, you will continue to fulfill the duties of a licensed Mechanical Engineer, upholding company standards and values are maintained on every project. Provide expertise to an engineering and architectural department and support to construction management activities for designated projects. Travel Requirement
This position is office based in Sacramento, CA Regional Office. Travel requirement is based on project needs. A valid California Driver's License free from suspensions or restrictions is required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment and frequently works in a construction environment. Conditions occasionally include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions. and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is regularly moderate and occasionally loud.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly sit, talk, listen, and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 5 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for setting and implementing mechanical and plumbing engineering standards.
- Communicate project intent in a clear and compelling way that ensures incorporation of the client's requirements and goals within each project solution.
- Ultimately responsible for the day-to-day delivery of projects ensuring they are delivered at a high level, on time, and on budget.
- Identify and manages project risks, consulting with the EAS Operations Manager.
- Identify new business opportunities while developing current client relationships. Seeks out and positions EAS for new projects which may exist or are being formulated.
- Prepare fee and workload projections for new projects.
- Lead pursuits and work directly with EAS leadership to develop proposal strategies and positioning for EAS' other service offerings.
- Work with the marketing department and EAS Leadership in the development of marketing campaigns, materials, webinars, etc. and overall proposal preparation.
- Provide assistance to the marketing team in the development of standard materials that describe the mechanical and plumbing engineering services.
- Assist the Executive Director of EAS with the preparation and negotiation of owner contracts.
- Prepare and review proposals and consultant agreements.
- Develop and nurture positive client relationships.
- Build strong relationships and interactions with clients, teaming partners, and internal business unit teams.
- Represent the company in the marketing of mechanical and plumbing engineering services. Represent the company in brand awareness and mechanical and plumbing engineering services.
- Understand and enforce conditions of each client contract. Is mindful of all that is included in our basic services and pays attention to opportunities for additional project services fees.
- Focus on the seamless management of the project process, ensuring clarity of requirements, deliverables, timelines, and visibility against fees throughout the project life cycle.
- Prepare, communicate, and monitor project work plans, budgets, and deliverables for client and internal business unit teams.
- Work with EAS Operations Manager on staffing needs. Resolve, monitor, and report on staffing levels and utilization.
- Recruit, supervise, and promote staff within mechanical engineering team.
- Grow staff capabilities through individual technical, management, and design skills.
- Manage the welfare and development of staff.
- Ensure health and safety policies, ensuring understanding and compliance.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.
- 10+ years of experience.
- Relevant professional accreditations including LEED, WELL, etc. are preferred.
- Strong expertise in a broad spectrum of markets, including Civic/Municipal, Public Safety, and Justice.
Knowledge and Skills
- Direct experience designing and documenting projects and the ability to champion design and technical excellence in all projects.
- Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Projects, Trane Trace, and Title 24 compliance software.
- Experience identifying and converting project opportunities, developing proposal responses and presentations, and growing a successful mechanical and plumbing engineering team.
- Demonstrated ability to provide mechanical and plumbing system(s) leadership on key projects and programs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and negotiate business terms with clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and plan work.
- Proficient in interpreting technical or abstract data to solve complex problems.
- Adaptable under pressure, capable of handling change, delay, or unexpected events.

- State of California Professional Engineer license is required.
