Job Summary:
Responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of the facility's operations, processes, and staff to ensure the efficient delivery of surgical services, while exceeding customer expectations and improving clinical and financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operation of the facility and ensure smooth functioning.
- Act as a liaison between the governing board, medical staff, and all facility departments.
- Report relevant facility activities to the governing board at regular intervals.
- Appoint a responsible person for the facility in the absence of the administrator.
- Plan services and overall operations of the facility.
- Lead business operations and ensure integration of operational processes and compliance with internal controls.
- Manage staffing needs, operations budget, capital budget, and purchasing plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Negotiate and manage external contracts, including with physicians and service providers.
- Establish procedure pricing based on cost analysis and market standards.
- Foster positive relationships across all departments and act as liaison with external stakeholders.
- Develop and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
Personnel Administration:
- Hold regular staff meetings to communicate goals and priorities.
- Manage employee performance and provide ongoing evaluations.
- Oversee disciplinary actions and employee terminations as necessary.
- Approve new hires and position changes.
- Implement staff training and development programs.
- Manage employee records and provide professional development opportunities.
- Promote a positive customer relations culture within the staff.
Clinical Services:
- Ensure surgical programs and clinical services meet regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the medical director to evaluate and develop existing and new surgical services.
- Oversee clinical departments, including nursing, central supply, and medical records, and supervise contracted services.
- Ensure functionality of surgical equipment and patient care devices.
- Develop and implement a sales and marketing plan aligned with facility goals.
Quality Improvement:
- Develop and implement a continuous quality improvement program.
- Administer infection control and quality review processes.
- Monitor and address quality care issues, using statistical indicators to evaluate operations.
- Participate as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee.
Medical Staff Relationships:
- Oversee credentialing of practitioners.
- Collaborate with the medical director on the review of medical staff bylaws and regulations.
- Foster positive relationships between employees and practitioners and address any concerns.
- Develop systems to assess physician and patient needs to ensure service efficiency.
Administrative Representative:
- Represent the facility in corporate meetings and maintain professional associations.
- Stay updated on industry changes such as reimbursement, legislation, and healthcare laws.
- Align actions with the facility's vision, mission, and business philosophy.
Personal Development and Professionalism:
- Identify areas for improvement and participate in relevant educational opportunities.
- Attend mandatory in-services and meetings.
- Adhere to the facility's conduct and dress code policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of work.
