DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Champion a proactive safety culture through leadership, training, and accountability across all projects.
- Develop and oversee company-wide health and safety strategies, ensuring alignment with WorkSafeBC, COR certification, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site audits, ensuring the effective implementation of safety programs and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and training to CSOs, Superintendents, and site management, reinforcing proactive safety leadership.
- Maintain oversight of site safety staffing, employee certifications, and compliance with required qualifications.
- Track and analyze safety performance metrics, providing insights to drive improvements.
- Ensure subcontractor safety programs are thoroughly reviewed and aligned with Kindred's standards before work begins.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and liaise with WorkSafeBC to streamline processes and minimize risk.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Act as a key advisor to the Joint Health & Safety Committee and senior leadership on regulatory updates and safety initiatives.
- Maintain Kindred's COR status and drive compliance with all required audits and reporting.
- Proactively address safety concerns by engaging with project teams, trade partners, and regulatory bodies to uphold the highest safety standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Deep understanding of the Workers' Compensation Act, OHS Regulation, and industry safety standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive cultural change and influence teams.
- Expertise in safety training, risk assessment, and change management strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital safety management systems; experience with Procore considered an asset.
- BCCSA COR Internal Auditor Certification.
- Certifications in fall protection, confined space entry, respirator fit testing, and OFA Intermediate or higher.
