Job Title: MRI Technologist
Job Specialty: MRI Imaging
Job Duration: Full-Time
Shift: Monday 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Saturday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days of 8-hour shifts
Experience: Experience in a similar role preferred
License: ARRT(MR) registration
Certifications: MRI certification or ARRT(MR) and BLS
Must-Have:
- IV skills and proficiency
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Computer proficiency including PACS and RIS
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to maintain confidential information
Job Description:
- Responsible for care and safety of patients in the Magnetic Environment
- Perform the highest quality of imaging consistent with the ordered exam
- Assess the patient's condition during the exam and notify the Radiologist of any changes
- Use contrast material judiciously
- Understand the proper use of all equipment pertinent to the MRI department
- Work under the direction of a Radiologist
- Complete all aspects of film archival prior to the Radiologist's review
- Communicate with Radiologist, front desk staff, and other hospital departments
- Report equipment problems to the MRI Chief Technologist
- Complete all documentation and appropriate paperwork
- Maintain the upkeep of the reading room and workstations
- Act as a preceptor for new employees
- Train students, interns, and externs, as needed
- Provide basic patient education skills
- Support the MRI Chief Technologist with strategic development of MRI services to meet changing customer needs and ensure continued growth of services
- Work in accordance with JCAHO standards and protocols, state and federal regulations
- Comply with departmental and hospital policy and procedures
- Ensure compliance with patient quality standards for all age groups ranging from neonate to geriatric
- Keep abreast of the latest trends in MRI
- Assist in the evaluation of new imaging equipment, as needed
- Maintain standards of performance
- Interact professionally with patients, vendors, co-workers, and medical staff
- Promote Service Excellence
