The Business Analytics and Insights business group uses an integrated, strategic approach to driving sustainable growth in revenue and margin. Our purpose is to drive achievement of net sales, gross margin, and market share goals by delivering solid business plans, comprehensive reporting, and actionable insights. The BAI team supports this outcome by creating and improving pricing, promotional processes, forecasting accuracy and integrating tools. BAI collaborates most closely with Marketing, Sales and Finance.
Job Summary
The Database Strategy Manager is accountable for PetIQ's syndicated data warehouse, owning category definitions, custom Nielsen/Stackline database coding, data accuracy, and uploading process. This role liaises with third-party data suppliers, leads the strategy to harmonize syndicated and retailer POS data with input from Marketing, Sales, and Category Management. As a key leader, the Manager clearly communicates the data strategy to Data Engineering team members to lead custom coding automation and accuracy. The Manager owns data accuracy of syndicated data and ensures data integration, enabling informed decision-making and strategic insights.

Job Summary

The Manager owns data accuracy of syndicated data and ensures data integration, enabling informed decision-making and strategic insights.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as primary liaison between PetIQ and Nielsen/Stackline/Kynetec and other data providers to lead category definitions and accurate segmentation.
- Manage PetIQ's data warehouse tools and strategy, ensuring proper segmentation implementation harmonizing with PetIQ data systems.
- Effectively collaborate with Category Analyst to clearly define database categorization goals and responsibility, ensuring accuracy of implementation
- Partner with Engineering Team to create, maintain, and automate processes for data accuracy checks for item level characterizations
- Responsible for managing syndicated data playbook that consists of the "do's and don'ts" with the data in Sisense and teaching the broader group how to correctly analyze the Sisense data
Other Responsibilities:
- Responsible for PetIQ data warehouse tools and strategy (syndicated data) including proper segmentation, uploading, and implementation
- Accountable for owning the accuracy of syndicated data hierarchy and product coding
- Partner with BAI reporting team to recommend dashboard creation for analyzing syndicated data in Sisense and own final product accuracy checks
- Assist Category Managers and Shopper Insights Manager in monthly category reviews, using syndicated and panel data
- Build PetIQ product PowerPoint presentations to include items, photos, MAPP, and retailer distribution
- Support internal teams with ERP transitions involving item coding to match Nielsen/Category Management hierarchy
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years Category Management experience
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Advanced experience with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, Numerator, Stackline)
- Ability to travel (no more than 10%)
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous database management experience preferred
- PowerBI/Sisense Experience
- Previous Pet Industry Retail Knowledge
- Data mining and consumer research skills
- Traditional Omni Channel Category Management/Analysis skills
- Strong analytical and data insight capabilities
- Ability to lead and present in large groups
- Understanding of CPG industry, merchandising best practices i.e Aisle Flow, POG, Adjacencies etc
Physical Requirements:
