The Manager of Production Planning is responsible for overseeing the planning and scheduling of production activities to ensure that manufacturing targets are met efficiently and effectively. This role involves coordinating with various departments to optimize resource allocation, manage inventory levels, and enhance production processes in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production planning strategies that align with operational goals.
- Manage and oversee the production schedule to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate with materials management to ensure availability of raw materials and components.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce lead times.
- Utilize ERP systems to track production progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze production data and metrics to forecast future production needs and improve efficiency.
- Lead a team of production planners, providing guidance and support to optimize performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in production planning or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of MPS (Master Production Schedule) and material requirements planning.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems for production planning and inventory management.
- Computer literate and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, MRP, JIT and TQM processes and concepts.
- Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems is required
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
