The major duties and responsibilities of the Construction Engineer shall be as follows:
Review engineering plans and specifications for construction purposes and conduct constructability and functionality reviews.
Coordinate and monitor construction progress and assist Project Coordinator in mitigating risks.
Review inspection procedures and daily reports and assist with preparation of project status reports to identify progress and monitor the project schedule, budget, and staffing plan.
Provide technical troubleshooting, review technical variances.
Provide technical support to Engineering and Field workforces performing equipment inspection and replacement.
Provide Field Engineering support during trackside equipment inspection and replacement.
Implement the use of the project management software system (Procore) including updating data in the Procore system through direct input of contract related data or uploading data files.
Prepare technical documents for project record documents, including as-built plans, drawings, and schematics
Conduct site visits and participate in progress meetings to monitor project progress, quality control, testing and acceptance of the equipment and systems.
Provide technical evaluation of proposed change orders.
Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager and/or Task Manager.
Position Requirements
Background and Experience Required
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and five (5) years experience in directing, managing, and administering operational transit construction projects ; a minimum of two (2) years out of five shall be in the transportation industry. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in related field, of which two (2) years shall be in the transportation industry.
Demonstrated experience in inspection of sites, determination of material requirements, developing installation techniques and various transit infrastructure.
Knowledge of and practical experience in the Federal Acquisition Regulations.
Able to work during non-revenue hours (12:00AM to 5:00AM); and ability to report to any
company facility within Washington Metropolitan Area within a three (3)-hour notice.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills.
