Job Description:
The School Mental Health Professional (either a school social worker or school psychologist) assigned to Autism Programs in the Douglas County School District serves students across all levels (PK-12) in Autism Center based classrooms who require targeted and intensive intervention across special education and general education settings in addition to the Autism Center classroom. Utilizes knowledge, skills, experience and commitment needed to provide direct and indirect services that help students with the Autism eligibility succeed academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally. Supports and establishes a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students in order to: alleviate barriers to learning, engage students as individuals with unique interests and strengths, and promote student success at the student's developmental level. Utilizes expertise in assessment, data based decision-making skills, psycho-educational practices, and behavior consultation in order to plan, collaborate and provide direct services to students and to provide direction, support and collaboration to the multidisciplinary and center based team; and autism team. Uses knowledge of and ability to implement crisis prevention, intervention, response and recovery efforts.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
- A minimum of a Specialist Degree in School Psychology or a Masters Degree in School Social Work
LICENSES & CERTIFICATION:
- Special Service Provider license as a School Psychologist or Social Worker
- Must be able and willing to obtain other certifications required for the position, including CPI certification
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working collaboratively with community agencies and groups
- Experience in analyzing data to inform decision making or project implementation
- Experience working in a school setting
- Experience in, knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and interventions
- Autism specific coursework, training, and experience preferred

- Occasional lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds
- Frequent sitting
- Occasional bending, squatting, or standing
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Responsibilities:
Attend district professional development opportunities in the areas of mental health and special education and other Autism program specific opportunities
Demonstrate expertise in assessment - including cognitive and adaptive assessment, FBA/BIP creation in collaboration with BCBA, data based decision-making skills and psycho-educational practices, in order to plan, consult, collaborate and/or provide direct services to students.
Support team with collaboration with outside providers
Effectively implement crisis prevention, intervention, response and recovery efforts.
Maintain accurate and up to date records of every intervention/session delivered to students whether direct or indirect services. Information will be documented into the current IEP system and the current Medicaid system. Document services for students who are eligible for Medicaid reimbursement. Complete progress monitoring and progress reporting to obtain and communicate data regarding student advancement toward goals.
Document health related services in Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program.
Support the ASD program students and staff, spending with students with autism who attend the ASD center program both in the ASD center and in the general education setting.
Plan, organize, and implement appropriate instructional programming in a
learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and
fulfill their academic potential
Support and establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students in order to: alleviate barriers to learning, engage students as individuals with unique interests and strengths, and promote student success at the student's developmental level.

Position Salary Schedule Eligibility:
