Role Overview
As a key member of our Downstream Consulting team, you will be responsible for project managing commercial and strategic consultancy projects in the downstream industry. The position requires applying industry knowledge and experience to a broad range of consulting projects and client situations. The downstream sector is undergoing huge changes driven by the energy transition. Our clients need our support and advice to help them to navigate the transition successfully.
The successful candidate will support the growth of our Downstream practice, leveraging industry knowledge to understand clients' challenges and needs, taking a key role in managing and delivering projects, developing commercial proposals, and supporting the development of other team members. You will also work closely with other sector teams, combining expertise to bring clients cross-sector advice that is becoming increasingly valuable as the energy transition evolves.

Main Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Project planning - define the course of action to accomplish goal of the assignment
- Maintain close communication with clients to keep them informed of progress and ensure projects bring impactful insights that add strategic value
- Organize proper resources for projects, manage project implementation, and ensure high-quality delivery within the budget
- Oversee the work of other members of the team
- Identify follow-up and resale opportunities
- Follow consulting procedures and methodologies
Business Development
- Develop relationships with consulting clients to foster repeat business
- Discuss consulting needs with clients, prepare and present proposals to clients
- Collaborate with the team to scope opportunities and to estimate fees for quotation
- Participate in industry events to network with potential clients, where appropriate
Analysis and Commercial/Strategic Intelligence
- Identify, obtain, sort, and organize sources of information, both from the public domain and internal databases
- Validate, analyze, and critically assess sources of information
- Select an appropriate analytical tool(s) for each assignment
- Utilize Wood Mackenzie products to extract information and data useful for the consulting engagement when applicable
- Take ownership of and responsibility for the analysis undertaken
- Leverage knowledge of the sector to develop creative solutions for our client
Practice Development
- Coach and mentor other consultants, taking personal responsibility for their development
- Support the regional Head of Downstream Consulting in expanding the practice
- Please assist with the development of new consulting offerings to provide better insights and solutions to our clients
- Lead project reviews to foster continuous improvement (team, team members, etc.)
Communication and approach:
- Keep abreast of developments across the downstream space to identify business development opportunities and to provide insightful results to clients
- Collaborate closely with project team members, consultants from other projects / regions / sectors, research and sales teams, etc.
- Offer solutions to problems and challenge the status quo
Knowledge and Experience
- Top-tier university degree and/or MBA or relevant Master's degree
- Significant previous experience, at least 5 years in a downstream- and/or midstream-focused strategy consulting role or a senior strategic planning, business development, corporate finance/development, or commercial role within the oil & gas industry
- Deep industry knowledge of the traditional oil & gas sectors which includes downstream and midstream markets, operations, technical, commercial, business models, or strategic aspects. Upstream sector knowledge is a plus.
- Track record and experience of leading project teams or managing and executing consulting engagements and/or organized project management
- Ability to prepare high-quality written reports in Word and PowerPoint
- Spanish language skills are a plus
