Baker Botts, a full-service, leading international law firm recognized for our understanding of the industries we serve, is seeking a Lateral Partner Senior Recruiting Manager for our Recruiting Department. This position will report to the Chief Recruiting Officer and others within the Recruiting Department. The Lateral Partner Senior Recruiting Manager, working will assist with the Firm's lateral partner hiring efforts. This is a Firmwide exempt position which can reside in any of the Firm's domestic offices.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage firmwide lateral partner recruiting efforts by working with the Chief Recruiting Officer and Firm Leadership to develop and implement strategies to source, recruit and hire lateral partner candidates.
  • Collaborate with departmental leadership and local office partners to guide candidates through the Firm's recruiting and onboarding process.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for candidates and search firms throughout the lateral hiring process.
  • Research potential lateral partner candidates; gather market intelligence on firms and candidates.
  • Maintain and manage the Firm's database of lateral recruiting candidates.
  • Manage search firm relationships.
  • Interface with search firms to share the Firm's brand, goals, strategies, and desired target markets to make sure the Firm is top-of-mind with leading search firms.
  • Track and maintain accurate recruiting data and metrics and prepare reports and analysis as needed for internal and external purposes.
  • Energize the partnership to provide direct leads to available lateral talent and, in so doing, avoiding the need for employment of professional search firms.
  • Report regularly to Firm leadership on global lateral hiring trends and statistics.
  • Prepare various reports on strategic hiring.
  • Manage candidate meetings and travel.
  • Manage, train and develop Lateral Partner Recruiting Coordinator(s).
  • Other projects as assigned by Chief Recruiting Officer.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; 5+ years of recruiting experience, including lateral partner recruiting; experience in a law firm is preferred.
  • A team and results-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently; very strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and collaborate with attorneys and staff at all levels.
  • A self-starter with the ability to exercise independent judgment; highly professional demeanor.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of relational databases and web technology would be beneficial; familiarity with viRecruit and/or other recruiting systems strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours; work regularly requires more than a standard work week to perform the essential duties of the position.

Extent of Contact (Within and outside the Firm)

This position requires contact with individuals within the firm as follows:
  • Extensive daily contact with lawyers, staff and colleagues.
  • Frequent contact with outside vendors.
  • Potential lateral hires.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry file folders weighing up to 5-10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for considerable periods of time.
  • Position requires extensive telephone use.
  • Must be able to lift, squat, kneel and bend.
  • Position requires the ability to visit face-to-face and on the phone with lateral lawyer candidates, firm lawyers.

Working Condition and Environment
  • Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment.
  • Position requires some travel including weekend and week-long travel recruiting events.
  • Position is full-time and requires a five-day workweek and standard hours as outlined in the firm policy manual. Work frequently requires more than the regularly scheduled hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. Must be available to work additional hours, including weekend hours, when necessary to meet established deadlines or stay current with occasional peaks in workload. Must be willing to change regular work schedule to meet the needs of the Firm.
  • Must be able to perform essential duties of the position with time constraints and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work well in high pressure environments.
  • Must be able to make site visits for event planning purposes.
  • This role may be hybrid and will require a minimum of three days per week (or at least 60%) present in the office, and up to two days per week (40%) may be performed remotely.

The salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $140,000 - $195,000. The actual compensation will be based on a combination of factors.
