JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment and environments to achieve world class safety performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing these policies and procedures.
- Ensures that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed.
- Ensures that OSHA and MSHA reporting requirements are met.
- Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment
- Assists in the activities of the safety committee by providing technical and administrative support.
- Communicate and work with key people within the Company.
- Identify workplace hazards through performing safety inspections.
- Investigate accidents, Incident and other employee-completed documentations, as part of the investigators.
- Manage employee Health & Safety training programs, maintains training records, and provides training to employees.
- Percentage in Field 80% and Desk paperwork 20%, can change depending on task in hand.
- Will be on/call 24/7 as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other related duties, as required.
- Interface with clerical person in posting of OSHA log, MSHA and other administrative work.
- Train on MSHA 30 CFR Part 46.
- Assist ready mix and aggregate managers with safety meeting materials and presenting materials as needed.
- Complete monthly plant inspections at all ready mix and aggregate sites.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This role operates at a variety of locations, and job sites where the conditions include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Raptor Materials LLC, approved Personal Protection Equipment & PPE, including but not limited to respirators.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Understand and follow instructions.
- Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or five (5) years' experience in an industrial company with occupational safety responsibilities required.
- A comparable combination of education and experience in an industrial company will be considered.
- Strong persuasive skills in dealing with top management and with managers and supervisors.
- Organize safety and occupational health material into lesson plans and present the material to managers and safety committee effectively.
- Learn the methods and practices used in the pits and batch plants.
- Perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Must have basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Geographical knowledge of the Colorado area and the ability to read maps and communicate directions.
- Must be a positive team player.
- A background in customer service is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
