Director, Fund Administration

CAHEC is a leading community investment company specializing in tax credit syndication (equity and debt), preservation, general partnerships, property management, and charitable initiatives through the mid-Atlantic and South.

The Director, Fund Administration provides leadership and strategic oversight for Fund Administration. The role is responsible for managing the daily operations of fund administration, overseeing fund accounting and financial statement preparation, capital call and distribution management, investor reporting, tax reporting, and ensuring adherence to internal control measures while fostering staff development. The director promotes an inclusive and collaborative team culture and demonstrates a high level of organizational skill to support operational enhancements in tandem with the growth and evolution of CAHEC investment funds. The employment classification or this position is exempt.

Some specific functions include:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Fund Administration Division, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Directly manage divisional, foster a collaborative team culture, and promote staff development opportunities.
  • Oversee all fund accounting activities, including accounts payable, cash management, reconciliations, and general ledger while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Chief Financial Officer to develop and implement ongoing strategies related to the oversight of fund accounting, cash management, banking, reporting, and financial systems. Ensure consistent application of internal controls and best practices across all areas under management.
  • Collaborate with Director, Fund Development, towards the development and on-going maintenance of financial models required to create new equity funds, to evaluate investment placement impact in single and multi-investor equity funds, and to provide investors with accurate benefit schedules and other requested reports while ensuring data integrity from initial data collection to model inputs to investment reports.
  • Oversee the quarterly reporting process while making sure staff and processes align with the highest standards of internal controls and quality assurance to ensure timely and accurate investor reports.

Education Requirement

Degree from a four-year college or university in business, finance or accounting required. A CPA is preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in (fund management, investor relations, or similar financial oversight roles, with an advanced understanding of financial modeling, fund accounting, and investor reporting related to managing real estate investment funds. Experience in managing affordable housing investment funds is preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience relevant to the management functions of leading a high performing team, coaching direct reports, strategic planning and goal setting, and budgeting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to manage and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and met expectations and timelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple objectives simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards and data integrity,
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced working knowledge of Excel and perform complex modeling and forecasting with an advanced understanding of GAAP accounting and tax matters.

Work Environment

This position is based out of CAHEC's corporate office in Raleigh, NC. The position works in a normal business office with a climate-controlled environment. Some objectives, industry related events, and training opportunities may require travel by commercial airline or automobile. CAHEC 's current hybrid work benefit offers eligible positions the opportunity to work both in the Raliegh office and off-site after a period of orientation and training.
