Description:

We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced AI & Technology Policy Expert to join our nimble and results-driven team. This individual will play a critical role in shaping our policy positions and implementing strategies related to SoftBank's investments, including policies supporting AI infrastructure from data centers to energy sources. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the AI ecosystem and have both public and private sector experience.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and monitor AI policy trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments.
  • Develop and recommend policy positions and advocacy strategies that will advance AI infrastructure.
  • Engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions to advance our policy objectives.
  • Maintain an understanding of global geopolitics as it relates to the AI industry.
  • Prepare policy briefs, reports, and presentations on complex AI issues for a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders, government officials, and industry groups.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and meetings, serving as a subject matter expert on AI policy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of policy positions with overall organizational goals.
  • Provide insights and strategic advice to senior management on potential impacts of proposed policies on SoftBank investments in the AI ecosystem.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Deep understanding of AI and tech policy.
  • Experience engaging with senior level government officials.
  • Ability to oversee state and local government affairs activities.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to work that seeks creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Resilient, flexible nature to adjust to changing dynamics.
  • Willingness to register as a U.S. federal lobbyist.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience working for the U.S. government desired, and 2+ years of private sector experience welcomed.


Physical Requirements:
  • Office location in downtown Washington, D.C.
  • In person (Required in office 4 days per week.)
