Supplemental Information
The IT Technical Specialist 1-2 for the department will assist in the following tasks and duties both independently and alongside IT vendors:
75% Network/System Monitoring, Support, & Maintenance: Monitor and support the agency's network infrastructure including
routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, as well as backup, recovery processes. Perform regular network checks and monitor
for potential issues using intrusion detection systems, maintain the health of virtual and physical servers, workstations, and
networking equipment. Perform routine maintenance and updates on operating systems, applications, and hardware. Work
closely with both internal teams and external vendors to aide in ensuring optimal performance and seamless operation of
the agency's IT systems. Assist in implementing and maintaining IT security practices to protect the organization's systems
from unauthorized access, malware, and other cyber threats. Assist with performing routine security audits and
vulnerability assessments on systems and network.
Technical Support / User Support & Training: Provide hands-on support for hardware, software, network infrastructure, and
IT system issues, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems related to desktop/laptop setup
and functionality, mobile devices, virtual and physical servers, network setup, applications, and telecommunications
equipment. Provide technical support and training to end-users, helping them resolve issues and optimize the use of
information technology resources. Create and respond to IT support tickets within specific SLA guidelines and escalate
issues when necessary to higher-level support.
System Installation, Configuration, & Compliance: Install, configure, and upgrade software and hardware systems, ensuring
they meet organizational standards and are within network security guidelines and compliance as directed. Assist in IT
compliance audits. Assist with the integration and deployment of new applications or updates to existing systems. Assist
with validation of infrastructure and applications to ensure alignment with federal and local policies and regulatory
requirements.
15% Project Support & Collaboration: Assist in IT projects, including system upgrades, new technology implementations, and
office moves. Work closely with other IT team members and departments to enhance the overall IT environment and
improve productivity. Provide technical expertise/insight as needed on projects involving the development and/or
improvement of information technology infrastructure and other IT areas. Analyze software performance and provide
recommendations and solutions for improving usability and functionality. Serve as proxy when needed for higher-level IT
support staff in attending meetings.
10% Create and Maintain Documentation: Maintain accurate records/Standard Operating Procedure documents of IT processes,
configurations, and changes, including system setups, configurations, and Frequently Asked Questions for troubleshooting
solutions. Assist with preparing training materials and user guides to help facility smooth onboarding/off-boarding
processes and adoption of new technologies. Generate varying system performance and statistic-type reports as
requested.
