Stanford Online High School offices are located at the Stanford Redwood City Campus, however this position will be performed completely online and requires you to have the ability, technology, and appropriate tools to successfully perform all job duties online. You must be located within the United States of America and be available to travel to the main campus up to three times per year for important in-person events.

Stanford Online High School is also the home of Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS), which provides a diverse array of academic enrichment programs that take place mostly in the summer but also throughout the academic year. Held both online and on-campus, SPCS programs serve intellectually curious pre-college students from around the world.
The Sr. Mathematics Instructor & Director of Mathematics Curriculum will oversee the mathematics curricula for Stanford's Online High School (OHS) and Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS), including but not limited to Math Circle, University-Level Online courses, and SUMaC. This role involves developing, revising, and expanding these programs in collaboration with OHS Faculty Director, Division Head of Math, and respective program directors. In addition to teaching 2-3 course sections, the Sr. Mathematics Instructor & Director of Mathematics Curriculum will mentor mathematics instructors, lead pedagogy development, and ensure curriculum alignment with the school's goals. The position also includes engaging in school wide events, supporting student clubs, and contributing to extracurricular initiatives.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Prepare for class, lead engaging synchronous online discussion sections with small class sizes, meet with students during office hours, and assist students in using additional resources to achieve course learning objectives.
  • Monitor student progress, give feedback, grade assessments, and team with students, parents, Division Head, counseling staff, and administrative staff in support of student success.
  • Oversee the curriculum development for assigned programs of OHS and SPCS, including but not limited to Math Circle, University-Level Online courses, and SUMaC, in collaboration with program directors and mathematics instructors to ensure exceptional quality of the curricula.
  • Mentor and train mathematics instructors on updated teaching practices, lead the development of curriculum and pedagogy in collaboration with program directors, and work closely with SPCS administration to ensure the successful execution of student events and special guest lectures on selected mathematics topics for OHS, Math Circle, and SUMaC.
  • Collaborate with OHS instructors, academic advisors, counselors, and SPCS leadership to support students needs, address escalated issues, and ensure the smooth execution of programs, including guest lectures for Math Circle and SUMaC.
  • Engage in a range of schoolwide events and activities outside of regular teaching duties, including staff meetings, committee assignments, student club meetings, wellness coaching, and participation in in-person events like Homecoming and Graduation, as well as teaching during Summer@Stanford and contributing to other special opportunities.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • PhD degree (or equivalent course work) in subject area relevant to that being taught by instructor. Three years of experience teaching at the high school/college level, or equivalent.
  • Facility with teaching traditional and online courses.
  • Ability to develop curricula of online courses.
  • Develop extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
  • Proficiency using computer applications, including those used for video conferencing, document production, and information management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing student talents and abilities in both academic and co-curricular contexts.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, students and parents.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone.
  • Frequently grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Must be able to conduct real-time voice-video seminars and spend 25-30 hours per week in front of a computer screen.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate.

The expected pay range for this position is $93,055 - $104,271 per annum for the Stanford Work Location, and $77,236 - $99,058 per annum for Remote (all other regions).
