About Turn/River

Turn/River Capital is a private equity firm that applies a proprietary growth engineering strategy to investing, partnering with software businesses to accelerate growth and build enduring value. The firm's team of equal parts investors and operators provides hands-on operational support and the flexible capital to systematically scale marketing, sales and customer success at its portfolio companies. Founded in 2012 and based in San Francisco, Turn/River has $4.7bn in committed capital and invests globally with a focus on North America and Europe.

About the Role

You will be part of Turn/River's team of experts spanning go-to-market functions, collaborating with our portfolio companies to drive their growth. Your focus will be on marketing and demand generation, guiding and supporting our portfolio company leaders and teams in developing and executing programs that generate leads, pipeline, and, ultimately, revenue. Working with 2-3 companies at a time, you will need to quickly interpret context and data, implement scalable systems, and influence company leaders.

This role offers variety, the potential to expand your impact, and an excellent opportunity to continue learning and honing your marketing skills. Ideal candidates are structured thinkers, lifelong learners, self-starters, and results-oriented team players who have a keen understanding of marketing funnels.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with Turn/River's portfolio companies' leaders to:
  • Understand companies' revenue sources and optimize revenue-producing funnels to generate more volume, better conversion rates, and/or higher average order value
  • Drive top of funnel volume, leveraging various marketing channels including digital marketing, website, content, events, ABM, and partnerships
  • Improve early-funnel conversion rates by optimizing SDR programs and/or trial funnels
  • Identify target segments and develop compelling messaging
  • Provide marketing support for product launches and other key initiatives
  • Establish and monitor KPIs specific to marketing efforts
  • Provide regular reports and insights to the investment and executive teams, demonstrating the impact of marketing efforts on overall business goals
  • Structure, recruit, and inspire high-performing marketing teams
  • Continuously experiment, document results, and extend positive findings to other portfolio companies
  • Work closely with sales, product, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and collaboration on go-to-market strategies

Qualifications
  • 8-10 years of professional experience with at least 5 years in B2B software marketing, preferably demand generation
  • Track record of success in an academically and/or intellectually rigorous environment
  • At least 2 years' experience as a direct manager
  • Ability to navigate and use a typical modern marketing stack (e.g. Hubspot, Marketo, GA, Salesforce, 6sense, Outreach)
  • Ability to build and use mental models for how to approach problems across diverse situations
  • Excellent communication skills, clarity, and confidence. You'll need to influence many different audiences, large and small.
  • Ability to self-source data and analysis. You will have support from our data team, but should be comfortable self-serving the basics.
  • A solid understanding of traditional B2B software sales processes and ability to understand technical products
  • Desire to be hands-on and accountable for results. This is not an advisory or consulting role. Our portfolio companies are not clients. We are fully embedded with them.
  • Consistent history as a team player
  • Strong project management skills
  • Philosophy of experimentation and iteration with resilience when things don't go as planned

Location
  • San Francisco, hybrid work model

Compensation
  • The annual base salary range for this role is $220,000 - 260,000, taking into account numerous variable factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational requirements.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in the Turn/River carry program and a discretionary bonus program.
