Sr. Project Manager (Bilingual English/Japanese)
Location: New York, NY, or Exchange Place, Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid - on-site a few days per week)
Hours: 40 hrs/week EST, with occasional weekend or late-night support
Rate: $ 55- 60/hr
Overview
The Sr. Project Manager will be part of the Treasury & HOMIS team within JRIA, responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the Head Office MIS (HOMIS) application. This role involves collaboration with JRIA technical teams, business departments in SMBC, and Tokyo-based application teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business-level fluency in Japanese & English to work with global teams and business users. Hands-on experience with RDBMS & Enterprise Application Integration. Strong understanding of database architecture and ability to support data modeling.

Overview
The Sr. Project Manager will be part of the Treasury & HOMIS team within JRIA, responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the Head Office MIS (HOMIS) application. This role involves collaboration with JRIA technical teams, business departments in SMBC, and Tokyo-based application teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver key projects for HOMIS, an ETL application handling financial data for NA & EMEA regions.
- Coordinate with Tokyo Head Office and regional teams to analyze system requirements and design solutions for ETL developers.
- Oversee production support, troubleshooting issues in collaboration with SMEs and Tokyo teams.
- Manage small-to-mid-sized projects, define business and technical requirements, track schedules, estimate workloads, and coordinate development efforts.
- Conduct application change management per SMBC's SDLC processes.
- Ensure database designs align with information architecture, supporting data modeling activities.
- Business fluency in Japanese and English (verbal & written).
- Hands-on experience with Relational Databases (RDBMS) and Enterprise Application Integration.
- Strong understanding of high-level database architectures, data modeling, and collaboration with data analysts, architects, and ETL/BI developers.
- Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments (preferred).
- Knowledge of financial products (Loans, Deposits, Trade Finance) and back-office operations is a plus.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
