Starting Salary: $4,605.20 Bi-weekly. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:

This is a high-level policy-making position responsible for formulating departmental policy; directing the application of policy; and, directing the day-to-day operations of the Bureau of Monitoring and Quality Improvement, Bureau of Procurement and Contract Administration, Bureau of Contract Management, Office of Fidelity, Accountability and Support and responsible for oversight of the agency safety and loss prevention accountability efforts.

The assistant secretary of accountability and program support is a member of the DJJ Executive Leadership Team and has interaction with outside stakeholder groups including contracted providers, legislators, policy makers and the general public.

Preference will be given to applicants with seven (7) or more years of experience in the areas of state procurement, contract management and performance and technical assistance. Desired applicant will have a minimum of four (4) years supervising and managing teams numbering 5 or more. Understanding of juvenile justice or child welfare issues a plus.

Knowledge of management and supervisory principles.

Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational activities.

Knowledge of implementation process and program readiness for change.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Ability to perform public speaking on behalf of the Department.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

Ability to provide clear and precise directions.

Ability to gather and organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.

Ability to work independently and to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to assess training needs and knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of adult learning.

Ability to use desktop computers and the MS Office software suite.

SPECIAL NOTES:

Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
