Job Title: Echo Tech Registered
Job Specialty: Cardiac Diagnostics
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 8-hour day shift; Days - Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday; 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: One year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography), preferred
License: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) certification required
Must-Have: Ability to provide on-call coverage one night per week; flexibility to float to various locations within 60 miles, as required
Job Description:
- Provide specialized cardiovascular care with an emphasis on patient safety and comfort.
- Perform baseline patient assessments and evaluate patient responses to diagnostic cardiac procedures.
- Operate and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic equipment per manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by a physician.
- Perform specialized testing using computer-assisted devices including TEE, Stress Echo, and Pharmacological Stress Echo.
- Cross-train to perform EKGs, treadmills, and Holter monitor tests as needed.
- Ensure proper function and calibration of equipment; troubleshoot and address any equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain high skill levels through participation in continuous quality improvement, in-services, ongoing education, and attend at least 80% of staff meetings.
- Display the ability to interact with diverse personality types, ages, and levels of patient consciousness effectively.
- Adjust approach based on the patient and family understanding of the test procedure.
- Promptly troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient issues that interfere with recordings.
- Prioritize clinical and administrative tasks independently and identify process improvements.
- Process and document patient and department records in accordance with hospital standards.
