General Summary

The Maintenance Manager's mission is to lead a high-performing team in safely and continuously improving the reliability and productivity of plant operations. The mission is achieved by coordinating planned corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities and through the technical development of the maintenance and operation teams. This role will have a strong focus on advancing CBM (condition-based monitoring) technologies, MRO management, reliability-based PM management, and personnel skill development. Success is measured by key metrics including injury rate, MTBF (mean time between failures), PM/CBM completion, planned vs. emergency work, inventory value and accuracy, fixed cost management, spare parts management, contract services, and labor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safety-first culture by promoting and driving safe work practices, timely training, and best practices to include a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable company and regulatory environmental, health and safety requirements
  • Promote, support, and ensure compliance with all food safety and quality practices, policies, and initiatives
  • Utilize planning and scheduling systems to drive improved maintenance performance, asset care, and overall efficiency of the department
  • Lead continuous improvement processes through decision making, employee involvement, systems, and training
  • Meet and exceed objectives and metrics for safety, cost, and productivity performance
  • Develop, optimize, and manage an annual maintenance budget including monthly variance reporting
  • Manage spare parts of equipment, supporting improvements in cycle count accuracy, and inventory levels
  • Lead the development of skills and knowledge in the Maintenance Department
  • Lead/participate and utilize a range of RCA tools to identify and drive out long-term chronic problems and failures
  • Lead efforts to promote operator equipment ownership through operator essential care program
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to deliver goods and services against contracts and expectations within budget
  • Deploy, manage, and improve predictive maintenance program, including Thermography, Vibration, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis
  • Improve maintenance skills for good maintenance process performance, as well as the continuous improvement and autonomous maintenance tools needed for maintenance and improvements in the production process
  • Strengthen and ensure compliance with company standards, rules, and policies, as well as the safety, quality, and maintenance standards of the production process
  • Identify, plan, and execute improvement initiatives to include a wide range of capital projects
  • Provide and maintain organized documentation of maintenance tasks using
    CMMS system in compliance with GMPs and GFSI standards and overall mechanical integrity


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Ten plus years of industrial maintenance and leadership experience, food industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, FDA, GFSI and GMP requirements for food processing facilities
  • Knowledge in ammonia refrigeration systems, fabrication, PSM, and TPM/RE
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated experience with performance management, team building and skill development
  • Strong desire for world class maintenance performance and a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills with the ability to effectively plan and manage capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, and major facility shutdown events
  • Strong CMMS systems knowledge and effective utilization for efficiency
  • Automation/Instrumentation/Controls knowledge and experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of planning/scheduling process as a core element of maintenance


Salary Description

$130,000-$150,000
