JOB SUMMARY:

The Associate Principal collaborates with the Principal to manage the school's administrative, academic, and disciplinary functions. This role involves leading initiatives to engage stakeholders, coordinating programs and services that support student success, and fostering a positive school environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To excel in this role, the individual must meet the following key responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to the early childhood program, including writing and monitoring of grants.
  • Stay current with trends and developments in curriculum and instruction, providing leadership in setting the direction and improving curriculum and instruction at the Preschool/Elementary level.
  • Provide instructional leadership to teachers and staff.
  • Analyze local, district, and state assessment data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Assist in planning and implementing school and district professional development for teachers and staff.
  • Aid in screening, selecting, assigning, supervising, and evaluating certified and educational support staff.
  • Ensure effective leadership for efficient operation of special education/student services in the school.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervising student activities.
  • Maintain mutual respect with students while implementing a positive and effective discipline policy.
  • Help develop master schedules and calendars to meet program objectives.
  • Monitor teaching and learning as directed by the principal, which includes observing classroom instruction and analyzing student learning data.
  • Participate in school improvement planning and implementation.
  • Work with parents in a collaborative manner to support the learning and growth of students.
  • Act as the building principal in the principal's absence.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the principal.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional tasks as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: The role requires frequent walking and standing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is generally stable, with minimal exposure to unusual temperatures, noise, or hazards. The position requires extended and non-traditional hours to fulfill job duties, as well as participation in organization-sponsored events and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Master's degree in Educational Leadership.
  • A Professional Educator's License with Administrative Endorsement.
  • Experience in classroom management, discipline, instruction, and student supervision.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and listening skills.

LICENSES/CREDENTIAL: Valid Illinois Teacher's License (PEL).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment begins on August 1 each year and ends two weeks after the final day of the academic year for students and teachers.

EVALUATION: The performance of this role is evaluated according to the Board's policy on evaluating professional personnel.
