CERTEX USA is seeking an experienced, dependable, Testing Engineer to join our team in Wilmington, CA.
Certex Wilmington operates a mechanical load testing facility with an emphasis on the proof load testing and certification of lifting and handling devices, ground support equipment and on and off-shore oil field equipment. We have also developed a specialty in the destructive testing of high performance steel, fiber, and synthetic ropes for a broad spectrum of applications and customers. Our outdoor testing facility is equipped with special purpose hydraulic test machines and instrumentation used for a wide range of mechanical tests. We specialize in very high load applications with the unique ability to apply loads up to 8,000,000 lbs. in tension and compression.
Position Overview
The Crane & Hoist Service Technician will provide quality installations, inspections, maintenance and repairs of overhead hoist and crane systems. Breakdowns will require troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical components and circuits.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties
Good mechanical and electrical skills
Good understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Experience working with mechanical equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, hydraulic pumps, hoists, and winches
Good written, verbal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge and understanding of hazmat policies including waste storage and disposal (DTSC), and Storm Water Prevention (SWPPP)
Ability to work as part of a team and to manage time efficiently
General knowledge of Quality Assurance policies, ISO 9001 and AS9100C
Other Requirements
Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and criminal background check
Be able to provide valid documentation to provide proof of citizenship in accordance with I-9 document
Display a professional and courteous attitude
Report to work at the designated start time
Willing to travel to various work sites or training as required
Willing to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary
Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures and comply with the Company's "Stop Work" policy
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designation operations and production areas as directed
Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and Supervisor with other duties as required
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Five years' related experience a plus
Working Conditions, Hours, Travel
This is a full-time position with standard work hours of Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Hours of work are typically 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Must work overtime as required
While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and will be frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be high for short periods of time.
Physical Requirements
To perform the essential functions of the job, the individual must be able to hear, talk, sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
The individual must frequently lift and/or move weights of up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move weights up to 50 pounds.
Specific required vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $90,000 -$140,000 per year
