Something About the Position

The Director of Accounting & Tax is responsible to manage the accounting and tax functions of the organization which includes financial reporting, management reporting, forecasting, tax preparation, budgeting and process improvement. This role requires strong leadership skills to collaborate with other departments to help ensure the company's financial health and operational efficiency.

Here's a sampling of what you might encounter on an average day, but as with any other business, our needs evolve daily.

Financial / Management Reporting
  • Prepare reports for meetings with parent company.
  • Oversee and manage the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial statements and management reports for the VP of Finance and senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in Monthly Project Review meetings.
  • Provide support for the Annual Financial Audit.
  • Manage the preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.

Forecasting & Budgeting
  • Manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with the VP of Finance and department heads to establish financial targets.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts.
  • Identify key trends and potential financial implications.

Process Reorganization & Improvement
  • Identify and analyze current financial workflows, proposing and implementing process improvements to optimize efficiency.
  • Standardize and document new procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality financial operations.
  • Drive the implementation of ERP software or system improvements, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  • Work cross-functionally to integrate best practices and streamline financial processes across the organization in alignment with processes of parent company.
  • Develop effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Strategic Collaboration
  • Serve as a key advisor to the executive leadership team, providing strategic insights on cost management and revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Operations, Sales, HR) to align financial goals with business objectives.
  • Communicate financial performance, trends, and forecasts to stakeholders, simplifying complex data for broad audiences.


Skills You Need to Bring With You

From a technical perspective, our ideal candidate will bring the following skills & experience with them:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree Accounting (CPA highly preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity.

Technical Proficiency
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity with IFRS.
  • Percentage-of-Completion revenue recognition.
  • Federal, State and Local income tax experience.
  • Experience implementing ERP systems (specifically accounting, project costing modules)
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.

Leadership & Communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborative approach, able to drive consensus across multiple departments.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities
  • Skilled at identifying inefficiencies, diagnosing root causes, and implementing process improvements.
  • Aptitude for data-driven decision-making and strategic thinking.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
