We are currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Drive Unit as part of our Drive unit design development team at Newark, CA . The candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams to drive design and manufacturing related investigations to resolution for the products in production. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. Base Pay Range (Annual)
$113,800-$156,530 USD

We are currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Drive Unit as part of our Drive unit design development team at Newark, CA . The candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams to drive design and manufacturing related investigations to resolution for the products in production. You will:
- Manage & solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques, Data and Design of Experiments (DoE)
- Conceptualize and execute test plans for component and subcomponents for motor/gearbox
- Troubleshoot all Drive Unit, Motor, and Gearbox related issues with datalink communication tools
- Drive vehicles to evaluate vehicle attributes and health status, use Canalyzer & Grafana to acquire and analyze data, test vehicle features, investigate issues.
- Understand and provide design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA), Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & serviceability feedback for current product changes, future product development and manufacturing process.
- Work with Manufacturing, Quality, and Sustaining product counterparts to help resolve Design and manufacturing related issues.
- Work with cross-functional test and development teams to investigate, troubleshoot Drive Unit Issues at bench top and vehicle levels to identify solutions.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical or Automotive disciplines with 7+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes or MS in Mechanical or Automotive disciplines with 5+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes
- Knowledge of Electric Drive Unit, Inverters, MCU, & associated troubleshooting.
- Experience in using DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, & RCA with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in process optimization techniques, such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products.
- Fundamental proficiency in Catia or 3DExperience
- Working knowledge of GD&T and Stack up analysis tools (2D & 3D).
- Experience with high volume production in solving problems using industry standard techniques.
- Excellent in data analysis using statistics Minitab/ MATLAB or similar
- Travel is required between the factory in Casa Grande, AZ and Engineering HQ in Newark, CA on as needed basis (10% - 40%)
Preferred skills
- Motorsport background
- Working knowledge of CAN, electronics, and data logging
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and chassis systems in performance vehicles.
- Driving certification from any proving grounds or previous employer.
- Experience with design and release of automotive transmission components
