Position Summary:

As the Director of Consumer Analytics, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of consumer analytics initiatives across the company. You will lead a team of analysts and data scientists to extract insights from consumer data, guide business intelligence efforts, and drive data-backed decisions that enhance customer engagement, improve product offerings, and support business growth. You will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to leverage data in shaping our consumer-facing strategies.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the Consumer Analytics team, consisting of data scientists, business analysts, and other related professionals.

2. Drive the development of consumer insights and analytical capabilities to inform strategic decisions across marketing, sales, and product teams.

3. Collaborate with senior leaders to design and execute the analytics roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.

4. Oversee the creation of data models and advanced analytical solutions to extract actionable insights from customer and market data.

5. Design, implement, and optimize business intelligence frameworks to measure and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

6. Apply statistical and machine learning techniques (R, Python, SQL) to large datasets to uncover consumer trends, behaviors, and opportunities.

7. Conduct in-depth analysis and reporting on customer behaviors, segmentation, lifetime value, and other business-critical metrics.

8. Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of data analysts and scientists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

9. Communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders through clear, concise reports and presentations.

10. Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of consumer data, implementing best practices in data governance and security.

11. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data science, analytics, and business intelligence to bring innovative solutions to the business.

Working Relationships:

Works with members of every internal department at all levels, from managers to SVPs including operations, supply chain, accounting, pricebook, legal finance, technology and marketing at a high level. Also works externally with major manufacturer partners, wholesalers and signage vendors.

Requirements:
Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or Business Analytics)

Preferred Education:

Master's Degree in Data Science

Minimum Experience:

12+ years' experience in data science, architecture and analytics

Preferred Experience:
  • 12+ years of experience in analytics, with a strong focus on consumer behavior and insights.
  • At least 7 years of proven experience managing teams and leading data-driven projects.
  • Expertise in business intelligence, consumer insights, and data science methodologies.
  • In-depth experience with SQL, R, and Python for advanced analytics and data manipulation.

Licenses/Certifications

Soft Skills/Competencies:
  • Expertise in data analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques.
  • Proficiency in tools such as SQL, R, Python, and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong knowledge of consumer behavior analytics, segmentation, and lifecycle analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and collaborate with senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
  • Familiarity with data governance and security best practices.
  • Experience in industries such as retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods is highly desirable.

Other Requirements:

Travel: 5-10% of the time visiting stores and vendor partners

Hours & Conditions: Currently a hybrid role, requiring 4+ days a week in the office, 8+ hour days in office setting (subject to change)

Physical Requirements: Minimal physical effort required; sitting / standing at computer for long periods of time. Ability to maneuver and lift up to 10 lbs.
