Role:

The Senior Manager, Vendor Relations oversees the entire accounts payable (AP) function for Canada, including Canada Support Centre (CSC), Broadline, and Specialty businesses, ensuring compliance with Sysco policies and Finance and Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM) procedures while optimizing processes. This role leads the AP team, ensuring timely and accurate payments, resolving aged balances, and maximizing cash flow benefits. They conduct audits, enhance financial controls, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive efficiency, mitigate risks, and implement best practices. Additionally, they contribute to system improvements and strategic decision-making to support organizational goals.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and support to the Accounts Payable team, ensuring efficiency in daily operations and adherence to company policies.
  • Oversees hiring, training, and evaluating employees to enhance performance, professional growth, and overall team development.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, FAMM, and Sysco policies and procedures, enforcing proper processes and controls.
  • Responsible for all Canadian business including Broadline, CSC, and Specialty.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and enhances AP processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborates with department Leads (Merchandising, Costing, Inventory Control, Accounting, and Supply Chain) to streamline AP operations and develop efficiencies.
  • Oversees inter-company accounts, ensuring timely reconciliation and compliance with Intercompany policies.
  • Reviews and manages debit balances, aged purchase orders, and aged open payables, ensuring monthly and yearly resolution per FAMM policies.
  • Maintains strong vendor relationships by addressing escalations and ensuring timely issue resolution.
  • Conducts quarterly and yearly Coaching and Maximizing Performance (CMP) reviews, ensuring alignment with departmental and company-wide objectives.
  • Engages in ongoing business transformation projects, working with Business Technology (BT) to drive process improvements and provide necessary support.
  • Develops and supports a high-performing team through hiring, scheduling, performance coaching, and career management.
  • Establishes clear performance goals, adapts to changing business demands, and ensures accountability through fair and timely performance management.
  • Demonstrates executive maturity, professionalism, trust, and integrity in all interactions.
  • Communicates company vision, goals, and expectations through department meetings, one-on-one discussions, and ongoing team engagement.
  • Complies with Sysco's Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Understands that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.
  • Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.
  • Enables, champions and embraces an inclusive culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About you):

  • Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience in a progressive AP role or related area.
  • Five (5+) years of experience in a related area as an individual contributor.
  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in business or related field in finance.
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle may be required. Some ad-hoc travel may be required.
