Description:

Twin City Die Castings Company (TCDC), an employee-owned company providing world-class precision aluminum and magnesium die castings manufactured to our customer's specifications, currently has an opening at our Minneapolis, MN plant for a Manufacturing Engineer to design, integrate and improve high volume manufacturing systems for secondary operations.

Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks

  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of automated processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or process design.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing and secondary operations.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing secondary operations.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing process problems involving designs.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness.
  • Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
  • All other duties as assigned.


Product and Process Design Skills

  • Able to review customer print specifications and models for manufacturability (Design for Manufacturability review). When necessary, make improvement suggestions to customer.

  • Able to understand complex geometry and GD&T requirements and interpret CMM reports (and other measurement results) to monitor manufacturing processes.
  • Able to lead the development, creation and implementation of automation projects.
  • Able to apply problem solving methodologies to eliminate design and manufacturing problems.
  • Able to conduct cycle time evaluations for manufacturing operations.
  • Able to lead tooling reviews with suppliers to ensure tooling conforms to TCDC requirements.
  • Able to lead and perform PFMEA risk analyses.
  • Able to identify and implement error-proofing opportunities within manufacturing operations.
  • Able to utilize CAD/CAM systems


Education and Experience

  • BS in Engineering is required, Master's preferred.
  • CNC Machining experience required.
  • 3D CAD/CAM skills required.
  • Experience with automated systems desired.
  • Technically competent with various software programs such as MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Experience in leading a manufacturing team is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks is crucial.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Ability to bring projects to successful completion.
  • Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service skills an asset.


Wage and Benefits:

Wage Range: $108,000 - $120,000/year
