With the collective power of ten General Electric LM6000 combustion turbines operating in simple cycle mode, these plants deliver a combined capacity of 450 megawatts, ensuring reliable and sustainable energy to meet the city's growing demands. Opportunity Summary
The Area Plant Manager will oversee the LM6000 plant's safety, operations, maintenance, and environmental compliance programs, ensuring efficient, reliable, and seamless plant performance. They will drive long-term planning, resource optimization, and cost management to meet strategic goals while also managing staffing, training, and workforce development to support ongoing operational excellence.
Additionally, the Area Plant Manager will foster a safety-first culture, serve as a key liaison with the community and regulatory agencies, and ensure the plant's continued success through strong leadership and compliance. Furthermore, they will provide administrative support for two NAES employees working on NYPA's "Y49" transmission cable, which currently requires maintenance services at the cable's Port Washington, NY, and East Garden City, NY, substations.

Working Relationships
The Area Plant Manager reports to the Operations Director and supervises the managers, technicians, as well as the Plant Administrator. The Area Plant Manager is the single point of contact between NAES and the Owner on all matters pertaining to the operation, maintenance, and commercial management of the plant.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
This position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule, during regular dayshift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. Some travel may be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings.
Compensation
Initial starting compensation will range from $205,000 to $225,000 and will include an annual performance bonus of up to 20%.

Primary Functions
Your scope of responsibility as Area Plant Manager includes the following primary functions:
Administration and Compliance
- Administer the plant's safety, operations, maintenance, administrative, training, chemistry, and environmental compliance programs to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
- Oversee the plant's safety, operations, NERC compliance, maintenance, administrative, training, chemistry, and environmental QA/QC programs, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and agreements with neighboring landowners. Oversee the preparation and submission of required environmental, regulatory, client, and utility reports, including budgets and compliance documentation. Provide monthly executive reports to the client and NAES Corporate Office, submitted one week after each month's end.
- Administer project agreements, including the O&M agreement, energy supply agreements, service agreements, and interconnection agreements, ensuring facility compliance.
Operational Leadership
- Manage and oversee both planned and unplanned plant outages, optimizing outage schedules to increase production efficiency, minimize costs, and enhance profitability.
- Accountable for the plant's long-range planning, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the optimization of resources for sustained performance and growth.
- Control and manage plant expenditures through budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting methods, establishing annual budgets in accordance with the O&M Agreement.
- Complete special projects as assigned by senior management and perform other tasks as needed to support operational and organizational goals.
Staffing and Training
- Develop and implement staffing, training, and qualification plans for all O&M phases to align with facility objectives and the owner's goals. Coordinate training schedules with management and employees to support workforce readiness and development.
- Verify that operations and maintenance personnel maintain current certifications and ensure training requirements (e.g., New Hire Training, First Aid, CPR, OSHA compliance) are up to date for all staff. Utilize Web-Based GPi Learn and other training resources available through NAES Corporation.
Safety and Workplace Culture
- Promote a safe working environment by actively fostering a culture of safety awareness among all plant personnel. Monitor and enforce safe work practices to prevent accidents, ensuring full compliance with environmental permits and applicable NERC standards.
Community and External Relations
- Serve as a liaison to the community and regulatory agencies, promoting the plant's image as a responsible neighbor and encouraging staff participation in community activities.
Personnel Support
- Assist Operations and Maintenance personnel by offering hands-on support in evaluating equipment issues and coordinating external resources as needed to ensure efficient problem resolution.
- Provide strong leadership to plant personnel by regularly reviewing policies and procedures to align with plant goals and industry standards. Foster a positive work environment that maintains high morale and motivation among all team members.
- Coordinate with Recruiting to source, screen, and hire new or replacement personnel, ensuring the selection of qualified candidates who meet the plant's operational and performance needs.

- Conduct safety observation tours of high-risk activities (e.g., confined space) to verify that employees are following safe practices, company procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Hold one-on-one sessions with direct reports to discuss safety issues, communicate expectations, and coach safe behaviors.
- Respond to all safety-related incidents, including injuries, incidents, and near misses; write a report explaining what happened, identify the cause, and recommend corrective actions based on established business unit or division practices. Follow up as necessary to ensure corrective actions are taken.

Job Qualifications
We are seeking an accomplished leader with extensive experience in the operations and maintenance of power generating facilities, paired with a strong history of career growth and a track record of excellence in achieving results.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent is desired, providing a strong foundation for understanding the technical aspects of power plant operations and management. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education on a year-for-year basis.
- Prior experience as a Plant Manager or similar position at a natural gas-fired power generation facility, preferably with simple cycle or similar turbine operations, is strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience in the business principles and practices of power generation facilities, particularly with independent power producers, including demonstrated technical proficiency in plant operations and maintenance. Strong ability to provide hands-on support and problem-solving assistance to operations and maintenance personnel.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with experience supervising technical, supervisory, and hourly staff. Strong team building, motivational, and change management capabilities.
- Expertise in environmental management, budget development and control, organizational development, and contract administration.
- Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting to control plant expenditures and align operations with business objectives and goals.
- A thorough understanding of safety regulations and a proven track record of promoting a culture of safety awareness among plant personnel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear operating procedures, reports, work requests, and effectively engage with team members, owner representatives, and stakeholders.
- Excellent community relations skills, with the ability to act as a liaison to regulatory agencies and engage with the local community.
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license, ensuring it remains in good standing at all times.
