Overview

Position Summary:

Acrisure Arena and the Cochella Valley Firebirds is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities to oversee our Facility/Engineering and Maintenance departments. The Director of Facilites will be responsible for supervising facility/engineering and maintenance employees in the daily activities of building systems to assure all facility systems are operating and well maintained in various areas, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting and climate control systems, roofing systems, and maintenance/cleaning of equipment.

This role pays an annual salary of $110,000 to $120,000 and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directs the work of staff engaged in repair, maintenance, and preventative measures of all facility systems.
  • Assists the VP of Operations in overall management for scheduling, training, evaluation and discipline of the facility/maintenance and engineering staff.
  • Estimates costs, determines maintenance priorities, and ensures jobs are completed with a high degree of proficiency.
  • Inspects systems throughout facility to detect malfunction or breakdowns.
  • Investigates malfunctions or breakdown of systems to diagnose causes and locate the source of the problem.
  • Anticipates potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize the use of services.
  • Responsible for CMMS Program and work orders as well as the development and execution of a preventive maintenance program facility wide.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Central Plant.
  • Operates and maintains refrigeration and heating systems of the facility.
  • Maintains and inspects equipment, including pumps, boilers, automatic doors, and additional HVAC equipment.
  • Records inspections and repairs.
  • Performs electrical repairs, emergency plumbing repairs, and HVAC repairs as needed.
  • Implement facility rules, regulation policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to OSHA and other applicable safety codes.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions applicable to building equipment and repair.
  • Coordinates the operations activities with other building departments and show-related contractors.
  • Anticipate problems and appropriate solutions. Investigates, analyzes and resolves operational problems and complaints.
  • Aids in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment and makes recommendation for purchases.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance program, energy management program and standard operations procedures for all machinery and equipment.
  • Operate, monitor, repair, and maintain the facilities audio-visual systems and equipment, environmental controls, emergency power, electrical, HVAC and lighting systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Review event documents for engineering/operational requirements.
  • Read and interpret performance charts and control panels to evaluate the efficiency of each system.
  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other light power driven equipment.
  • Respond to routine, precautionary and emergency alarms for building automation and life safety systems.
  • Assist with capital budget as related to the facility system upgrades and energy conservation program.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry technology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated for the facility, in particular, the methods, techniques, and procedures to repair and maintain mechanical, electrical and event-related equipment.
  • Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operation of equipment around the facility.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered during the course of employment.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related material.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Work effectively under pressure and or/ stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Supervise employees, recommend personnel actions such as promotions, discipline and discharge, interview, select, and train personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.   • High School diploma or GED and six (8) years of full-time related experience at a facility or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum four (6) years' experience in the supervision and operation of maintenance in a large building, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Must be self-motivated and take independent action, especially when management is not available.
  • Certifications in HVAC repair and maintenance desired. Additional certifications in electrical, refrigeration, welding, plumbing, or other engineering trades a plus.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the methods, materials, and equipment used to operate and maintain HVAC, electrical, audio/visual, and other systems found in the facility.
  • Knowledge in techniques in plumbing, electrical wiring, ventilating systems, and refrigeration.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC control systems such as Metasys
  • Possess any licenses, certificate or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of CA or able to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others both in oral and written form.
  • Have basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Previous experience at another Oak View Property/Arena/Stadium or Entertainment Space.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:

  • Intermittent Travel (< 10% travel): Trips will require some air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Frequent bending, lifting 50-75 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building.
  • May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present.
  • May occasionally require working in harsh weather conditions.
