Job Summary:
Under the direction of the BD Managing Director and in collaboration with practice leadership, and the Chief Business Development Officer, the Director of Business Development, STS, will play a critical role in driving the growth and market presence of BDO's Specialized Tax Services (STS). This position focuses on leveraging the Firm's thought leadership and other marketing assets, direct selling, and maximizing specialty tax revenue through leveraging relationships throughout BDO.Strong emphasis on developing and executing sales strategies to target larger strategic accounts.They will work closely with the account teams of existing clients and prospects, the Market Leaders, Market Industry Champions, as well as the local market Business Development Directors. The role will leverage a baseline knowledge of tax along with intellectual curiosity and a drive to provide value to clients.
Job Duties:
- Develops new revenue opportunities for BDOs Services, primarily targeting Tax Executives and those charged with overseeing the Tax function
- Works alongside practice leaders to understand service capabilities and reports back to the team on market perceptions, competitor activity, and market pulse
- Creates and executes against business development plans for STS services in conjunction with Tax Leadership
- Participates in the sales and proposal processes, as needed, including developing and managing the pursuit strategy, planning and attending (when appropriate) pursuit meetings, and providing proposal/presentation strategy and support
- Identifies business development activities necessary to drive opportunities and defines cross-selling and key account programs
Thought Leadership and Marketing:
- Leverages the Firm's relevant STS related marketing content, campaigns, and events to generate interest and opportunities
- Develops and implements a solid external or internal sales strategy around relevant STS related marketing content, campaigns, events as well as regulatory or market events that create potential opportunities for our services.
- Supports other geo/market/industry Business Development Professionals and Account Teams in STS related pursuits
Direct Selling:
- Dedicates 25% of the initial year to direct selling, targeting larger strategic market accounts
- Increases direct selling over time, with some of that time focused on market enablement
Collaboration with Existing Account Teams
- Participates, as needed, in strategic accounts to identify STS opportunities
- Collaborates with the appropriate STS personnel once opportunities are identified
- Provides feedback to National Business Development leadership on processes, templates, tools, etc.
- Coordinates with BDO Alliance USA and BDO International member firms on initiatives, as appropriate

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education
- Bachelors degree and Five (5) or more years of business development experience in a professional services environment or industry relevant firm, required; OR
- High School Diploma/GED and seven (7) or more years of business development experience in a professional services environment or industry relevant firm, required
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Marketing, preferred
Experience:
- Experience developing business relationships with C-level executives (CEOs, CFOs, Board of directors, etc.) and referral sources (attorneys, bankers, etc.), required
- Experience working in professional services direct sales industry or in development role at financial services firms, including but not limited to experience with accounting firms, investment banking or private equity firms, personnel recruiting, business journals sales, financial consulting, business advisory services and/or banking industry, preferred
License/Certification:

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, required

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidates qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range:$150,000 - $180,000
Maryland Range:$150,000 - $180,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:$150,000 - $180,000
