The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Team (office or field) with the daily managementand execution of the construction process. This role will assist in safety management, cost management, sitemanagement, contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration functions to help ensuresuccessful completion of the project. Plan, develop, coordinate, and manage onsite construction engineeringactivities for projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIESSafety- Enforce the DAVIS Safety program in accordance with DAVIS Policies and Processes, local, state, andfederal laws to include all subcontractors
- Participate in and reports on safety walks
- Assist in the development of project-specific safety plan and orientation process
- Obtain and maintain current certifications for First Aid, CPR and OSHA
- Provide an operational support role in the project bidding process to include preparing cost estimates,generating scopes of work, preparing preliminary schedule and site logistics as required
- Participate in the development of DAVIS Bid and / or GMP Package to include proper development oftrade scopes, solicit and review subcontractor and material supplier bids, and any necessary bidclarifications for review and approval by senior staff
- Assistance with subcontractor / trade management, as needed
- Assist with three week look ahead schedule on a weekly basis to project management team
- Assist DAVIS field engineering department on executing layout requirements for your project, asneeded
- Perform a thorough scope review of any extra subcontractor work tickets to evaluate completeness andquality; review with Superintendent
- Assist with project meetings, internal, owner or subcontract meetings, as required with supervision of lead Project Manager
- Provide support information to the detailed project construction progress schedule on a timely basis oras required by the project team
- Assist in the preparation and maintain tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings,requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and material deliveries
- Assist in the review of submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information (RFIs), includingcoordination with contract documents, with guidance from Superintendent and Project Manager
- Assist in sustainability and LEED tracking
- Prepare subcontract agreements and purchase orders for review and approval by the Project Manager
- Maintain a complete, current and accurate set of contract documents and as-builts; electronically postand update drawings with RFIs and submittals
- Assist in the issuance of change proposals and change orders to subcontractors and others, and prepare revisions to the budget, as a result of change orders with guidance
- Become familiar with subcontract terms and how they apply to various situations on a project
- Track and obtain properly executed documents to include contracts, insurance certificates, bonds andother documents as required
- Prepare subcontractor meeting agenda and begin to run weekly meetings with assistance / participation
- Maintain meeting notes and issue meeting minutes that have been reviewed and approved by ProjectManager
- Assist with buy-out process and prepare subcontracts
- Assist in the preparation of the Project Status Report (PSR) by generating project photos and projectsafety reports, updating tracking logs, updating cost management items, and updating schedule tracking documents
- Review, approve and code the subcontractor and vendor invoices, as directed
- Assist in the development of and draw site logistic and sequencing diagrams; create the documents usingproper software systems
- Assist in monthly project owner invoicing as required including subcontractor invoicing reviews, materialinvoicing review, budget management
- Assist in management of project closeout process with preparing and completing the job close outcheck lists, assist in managing project punch list process, and collecting project close out documentation
- Gather documentation necessary to assist / execute financial closeout with owner, subcontractor and /or vendor disputes
- Take progress photos and save onto server; issue a photo report, as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Participate in the implementation, and utilize the DAVIS Quality Management system in the execution of the project
- Using DAVIS standards, review and prepare proper submittals to comply with contract documents
- Assist with the implementation of the budget / cost control process, change management process,invoicing process, schedule control and maintenance process in accordance with the DAVIS qualitystandards on a consistent basis
- Create and manage quality control and deficiency logs utilizing Latista, or similar software
- Assist in the development of thorough scopes of work for each trade to ensure buy-out completeness
- Assist in the process to solicit, review and analyze bids from subcontractors and material suppliers forcorrect scope of work; assuring accuracy
- Learn and coordinate with other project team members to assure adherence to Best Practices
- Take the necessary steps in following tasks through to completion
- Demonstrate involvement in DAVIS sponsored activities and industry-related events
- Participate with the retention and recruiting of current and future DAVIS employees
- Perform responsibilities with excellence in service, integrity and building relationships as exemplified inDAVIS core values
- Team with DAVIS Superintendent to assist and / or lead the construction process for the duration ofthe project
- Actively participates and promotes a collaborative environment with owners, property managers, designteam members, co-workers, subcontractors, vendors and other contractors to enhance effectivecommunication

- Develop strong relationships with project team through owners meeting, project meetings, internal, and / or subcontract meetings
- Participate in presentations for potential projects, internal corporate initiatives, etc.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to solving project issues including supporting active research,coordination with other DAVIS resources, connecting with Subcontractor community as necessary tohelp foster creative solutions
- Write fully coordinated RFIs that offer solutions and field information to the design team
- Implement solutions in a timely manner

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalentconstruction experience*
- Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction project management, includingsafety standards*
- Demonstrated ability to:understand and learn technical systems and processes, and to show initiative, self-motivation, decision making and appropriate level of commitment to job*
- Exhibit the skills necessary to take on entry level management and leadership roles*

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is
$74,500.00 - $95,000.00
