At Mass General Brigham, we know it takes a surprising range of talented professionals to advance our mission-from doctors, nurses, business people and tech experts, to dedicated researchers and systems analysts. As a not-for-profit organization, Mass General Brigham is committed to supporting patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community. We are seeking a dynamic Nursing Director for the Lunder 7 neurology and neurosurgery unit.
This role is an essential leadership position within the hospital organization and encompasses oversight and management for safe, high quality patient focused care; personnel management and development; clinical operations; and the development of highly effective partnerships throughout the Department of Nursing and across all disciplines and organizational departments.
The patient population is adult neurology and neurosurgery caring for head and spinal trauma patients and patients with strokes. Nurses become fluent with care of the patient who requires acute neurological assessment, post tPA assessment and monitoring, external cerebral spinal fluid drainage, trach management, chest tubes, and palliative care.
The clinical nursing staff on Lunder 7 supports the vision and practice under the guiding principles of the Department of Patient Care Services. The staff is committed to providing highly skilled, high quality family centered care to the patients and their families.
Reporting to an Associate Chief Nurse, the Nurse Director provides leadership in an environment that celebrates and empowers nurses. In collaboration with a Clinical Nurse Specialist, hire, develop and provide direction to patient care providers and unlicensed clinical support staff. Partner with nurses, physicians, administrative colleagues and other disciplines to guide and direct clinical practice, systems improvement, network development, and operations. Negotiate and plan for interdepartmental resources with other department managers to ensure best level of services to direct care providers, and ultimately patients. Promote professionalism and autonomy by engaging staff in planning, decision-making and the many educational resources available for further development.
