Primary Purpose:
Prepares and assists in transmission system designs with voltage levels typically 69kV and above. Responsible for overhead and underground transmission line system design, engineering calculations, specifications, standards, and job package creations. Supports transmission projects from conception through completion. Strong knowledge of PLS-CADD modeling in conformance with State and Federal Regulatory Agency Codes. Works on multiple complex projects and provides guidance to designers and lower-level technical staff.

Supports transmission projects from conception through completion. Strong knowledge of PLS-CADD modeling in conformance with State and Federal Regulatory Agency Codes. Works on multiple complex projects and provides guidance to designers and lower-level technical staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs and guides lower-level staff on PLS-CADD transmission overhead design and modeling. Works closely with designers to provide direction during the lifecycle of the project and provides quality control reviews of PLS-CADD designs and construction packages.
- Provides technical expertise to the project team and solves engineering problems. Gathers data, performs calculations, and prepares designs to develop technically sound conclusions, recommendations and results.
- Evaluates job requests to determine purpose, scope, and requirements. Assist with supporting capital projects to ensure Company standards are met, that project schedules and budgets are adhered to, and the final product meets all State and Federal regulations.
- Interprets State and Federal regulations and industry standards to support projects. Provides recommendations to improve Company policies and standards and stays abreast of latest developments and regulatory changes.
- Develops Company standards, specifications, templates, and guidelines. Recommends operational changes to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety in transmission designs.
- Provides training, mentorship, and technical advice to lower-level engineers and designers on transmission and distribution related design items.
- Assist with managing transmission projects. Provides direction to Consultants, Contractors, Company staff, and project team related to engineering design and analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Hybrid Schedule:
- Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- 5+ years total engineering experience with three (3) years of direct transmission related experience.
- Good understanding of how risks impact project success and direction.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability and desire to self-perform any/all engineering tasks to support Company initiatives and projects.
- Intermediate knowledge of advanced engineering concepts, industry codes and regulations, and computer/technical skills.
- Uses a high degree of ingenuity, analytical ability, and good judgement to identify problems and provide solutions.
- Must have good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Strong transmission design experience using PLS-CADD.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
