Overview

The Director of Events will oversee all aspects of event planning and execution at Hamilton Arena. This role is responsible for coordinating event operations, managing event staff, liaising with clients, internal stakeholders and promoters, and ensuring all events run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational and leadership skills.

This role pays an annual salary of $85,000-$100,000 CAD and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all events, ensuring seamless operations from pre-event planning through post-event debriefing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, promoters, and internal departments to ensure event success.
  • Develop and implement event policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the operations, security, food & beverage, and marketing teams to ensure all event logistics are handled effectively.
  • Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee, train and evaluate event staff, including event managers, coordinators, and front-of-house personnel while ensuring high levels of performance and professionalism.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and recommend improvements for future events.
  • Respond to and resolve sensitive inquiries, union grievances and complaints.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and security protocols.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in event management, preferably in a large-scale entertainment or sports venue.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
