Why does the job exist?
This position will provide comprehensive Medical and Psychiatric Nursing Care for a group of approximately thirty-six (36) adolescent male residents at a Mental Health Treatment Center. Incumbent duties may include, treating and educating patients, administering medication and providing highly specialized nursing care and emergency care as needed.
How does it get done?
Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge.
Who are the customers?
Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males age 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have experience: Working with electronic medical records; Providing nursing care and assessment; and working with psychiatric clients.
Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work In an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying.
