Sr. Underwriter Flood
Classification: Exempt/ Full-time
Reports to: Vice President, Flood
Travel: 10-25%
Salary: $125,000.00- 150,000.00

Role overview:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Underwriter to join the Flood team. The Sr. Underwriter is responsible for the day-to-day management of the renewal policies and new business for servicing retail and wholesale segments.
Duties include reviewing and growing the group via submissions, rating, quoting, binding new and renewal business, servicing existing business. From the business side, the individual will be responsible for budgeting, potential carrier / reinsurer negotiations and maintaining the P&L.
Our program operates under underwriting authority agreements with our carrier partners and the underwriter will be familiar with these documents and work within the confines of the agreement. The underwriter will work closely with referral underwriters to underwrite submissions on that fall outside of the authority agreements.

Role responsibilities:
Direct and supervise underwriting activities as the need arises to produce positive profit and expense results within area of responsibility.
Develop positive relationships with brokers and effectively articulate DUAL's appetite.
Solicit, review, and coordinate new business opportunities with brokers
Underwrite both new and renewal business
Exhibit high levels of collaboration, leadership, customer service, and persistence
Provide strong analytical ability and sound judgment to make informed and accurate decisions

New Business:
Analyze new submission submissions for acceptability. Review applications, loss runs, websites, models, etc.
Communicate declination or need for additional information to broker/agent.
Determine if accounts are a fit for our in-house authority or if referral is required.
Complete thorough, accurate, detailed underwriting notes to document the underwriting thought process
Submit clear, detailed referrals to carrier partners (when required).
Generate quote documents and send to broker/agent
Generate binder/invoice documents and send to broker/agent
Handle post-bind concerns and ongoing account questions and routine service
Create complete files
Renewal business:
Review renewal accounts 90 days from effective to determine eligibility for renewal
Solicit renewal information from agent/broker
Determine if accounts are fit for our in-house authority or if referral is required.
Complete thorough, accurate, detailed underwriting notes to document the underwriting thought process
Quote renewal using in-house authority or refer if necessary
Produce Bind/invoice renewal documents
Handle post-bind concerns and ongoing account questions and routine service

Key requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
3-5 years' experience in property underwriting required, with knowledge of the peril of Flood.
Strong negotiation and presentation skills
Self-motivated individual
Outstanding marketing skills
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
Strong collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.
Business development skills evidencing a successful track record driving profitable growth.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time is anticipated.
Continuing education, professional designations, or related P&C licensing in insurance underwriting are preferred.
