Requirements:
- Must possess a valid New York State administrative certificate (SBL/SAS/SDA);
- Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based curriculum design, assessment, and instructional practices;
- Documented experience in leading professional development in evidence-based best practices to improve teacher development and increase student achievement;
- Demonstrated leadership in working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, families, and community members;
- Demonstrated educational practice rooted in a culture of high expectations and success for all students;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the District's Strategic Plan and national best practices and trends for accelerating student achievement;
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience related to working in socioeconomically and culturally diverse school settings;
- Demonstrated capacity to use data analysis to guide decision making in order to promote school improvement;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the processes of assessment, intervention and progress monitoring in order to support teacher calibration of instruction for all students;
- Demonstrated experience with evidence-based instructional practices and a proven ability to support educators in designing and implementing an effective, well-integrated, structure of tiered supports that will increase literacy, and reading achievement; and
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, effective strategies to support student social-emotional learning and restorative practices.
Description:
The Assistant Principal for Instructional Support will be instrumental in enhancing student achievement and outcomes through the strategic support of teaching and learning, the evaluation and revision of intervention structures, and the utilization of data and research-driven decision-making. This role involves close collaboration with the Principal and administrative team to develop and implement systems focused on instructional excellence, staff performance, and student success.
Job Duties:
- Instructional Leadership:
- Conduct weekly formal and informal observations for assigned department/teachers, providing constructive feedback;
- Work with building administrators to support data review/analysis of departments they oversee;
- Specific focus on middle school year and 9th grade levels;
- Plan/facilitate professional development alongside the Principal and Assistant Principals that stem from data analysis and research based practices;
- Data Analysis:
- Analyze data from systems such as WNYRIC, I-Ready, CFAs, quarterly grades, and other data points to identify student needs and inform instructional practices;
- Collaborate with teachers during PLCs, department meetings, and individual professional responsibility time to analyze student data and set instructional and student achievement goals;
- Use data to inform and facilitate PLCs within the assigned department, and support other PLCs as directed by the Principal;
- Intervention Coordination:
- Develop and implement systems for standards-based grading to facilitate targeted interventions for students who are not meeting proficiency;
- Review and revise Academic Intervention Services (AIS) opportunities to ensure alignment with student needs, including credit recovery and test preparation;
- Establish clear processes for identifying students who require AIS and ensuring equitable access to these services;
- Oversee and coordinate AIS sections offered by departments, as well as, the Alternative Learning Center (ALC), Twilight, Extended Day, Regents Review Sessions, and middle school summer programming;
- Develop and implement additional AIS opportunities, such as "boot camps," as needed;
- Participate in building-level problem-solving processes to develop interventions and supports for Tier 3 students;
- Collaborate with the Assistant Principal to facilitate grade-level/Tier 2 problem-solving meetings, including consulting with administrators, program managers, and district specialists;
- Testing and Scheduling:
- Serve as the testing coordinator, overseeing NYS 6-8 Testing, Regents Exam Testing, and NYSESLAT testing;
- Collaborate with the scheduling team as the Master Schedule Coordinator to ensure student needs are met, building priorities are adhered to, and GTA contract guidelines are followed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
