The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, continues to build competency in the provision of direct patient care. Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level. Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Performs patient care in a safe manner, following all policies and procedures. Performs ongoing basic assessments, including physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental components. Documents assessments, provision of care, medication administration, patient/family education, patient/family responses, and care planning according to unit and service standards. Safely and effectively administers and documents medications according to hospital policy, utilizing BCMA scanning and other methods as appropriate. Identifies potential patient/family needs and incorporates them into plan of care.
- Treats co-workers with courtesy, consideration, respect, and trust. Resolves conflict positively and in a timely manner, working directly with co-workers to address issues. Treats patients, family, and staff with kindness, courtesy, and respect for diverse view points and cultures. Communicates effectively in written, verbal, and non-verbal interaction with healthcare members, patients, and families. Listens attentively to customers, paying attention to both verbal and non-verbal messages. Communication with customers in a clear, courteous, caring, and appropriate manner to the situation.
- Engages in continuous learning to promote personal and professional growth. Accepts and acts on constructive feedback from leadership, peers, and colleagues in a positive manner. Identifies and implements educational opportunities for staff.
- Seeks out educational resources to support decision-making and action. Actively seeks out policies, procedures, and procedural checklists to guide practice.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

- Associate's degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- No experience required in most units, but may vary by specialty

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Successful completion of orientation at the unit level required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure NYS Licensure upon hire required
