Job Description
We are actively hiring an Electrical Engineer to join a MEP Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN, and support projects locally and nation-wide! This person will work with other A/E firms and Owners to complete a variety of project types, including: Government, Municipal, Healthcare, Hospitality (large hotel), and Multifamily. This Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the Electrical Engineering design from beginning through completion of Construction, and will both execute technical designs and direct preparation of construction documents for the electrical systems. This is a great opportunity for someone with a few years of experience to join a steady, secure, and autonomous team while continuously developing their skills and career.

Job Responsibilities
- Analyze project requirements to select appropriate electrical systems considering costs, efficiency, and other technical and economic factors.
- Develop detailed basis of design scope, and ensure accuracy of design calculations and compliance with all applicable codes.
- Responsible for interdisciplinary coordination and review design documents against all other disciplines.
- Manage and coordinate major items, delegating and supervising minor items.
- Host and/or attend project team design meetings in-house and with clients.
- Maintain project design pace to meet project schedule requirements.
- Coordinate preparation of and edit specifications for project manual.
- Coordinate with utility providers.
- Perform cost estimating of proposed projects and life cycle cost analysis.
- Provide primary role in quality control and checking design documents, including professional certification of documents if licensed.
- Responsible for development and completion of the project design file containing all required items as outlined in the company manual.
- Responsible for construction administration, including shop drawing and submittal review.
- Provide technical design leadership to other staff members within the electrical department and mentor junior staff members.
- Participate in business development efforts as required, including attending interviews with prospective clients and compiling documentation for marketing.
- Develop scope to be used in written proposals for prospective projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Proficiency in Autodesk REVIT and AutoCAD
- 5+ years of Electrical Design experience (low voltage or lighting)
- Thorough knowledge of electrical graphical symbols and drafting standards
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical design documents
- Ability to read and understand electrical specifications and coordinate drawings with specification requirements
- Preferred - Proficiency in SKM arc flash and/or Agi32 lighting software preferred
- Preferred - PE License or ability to quickly obtain
Must have a basic understanding of the following system types and their application:
- Electrical grounding systems
- Electrical power systems and components. (0-600V)
- Electrical power generation and backup systems and components
- Interior lighting systems, components and control
- Exterior lighting systems and components
- Telecommunications (Data, Telephone and CATV) cabling systems and components
- Sound systems and components
- Fire Alarm systems and components
- Security systems (Intrusion, Card Access and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV)
Must demonstrate a solid working knowledge and understanding of the following:
- Electrical single-line diagram design and sizing using limited load information with subsequent refinement based upon final design information
- Electrical device and lighting fixture layout based upon preliminary floor plans and participation in meetings with the Owner to obtain design requirements
- Coordinate electrical connections to equipment supplied by others including Architectural, Mechanical, Kitchen, and Laundry Equipment
- Demonstrate ability to identify required electrical connections and coordinate requirements for connections and control
- Preparation of load calculations, lighting calculations, fault current calculations and cost opinions using available software tools
- The ability to confirm values calculated are in the correct range based upon previous experience and knowledge
- This office environment features an open-office cubicle setting for drafters and designers, with a business casual dress code. Hours are somewhat flexible, typically from 7-8 AM to 4-5 PM, with one hour for lunch. Potential for hybrid setup depending on the candidate.
- While this is a deadline-driven environment focused on meeting client expectations, it is also very autonomous with work style and culture. They do not like micromanaging, and allow for employee flexibility.
- The current team of experienced engineers collectively provides over 100 years of electrical design experience and offers excellent internal professional development for new employees. Additionally, the company offers a professional development reimbursement plan.
- This team is supporting a large variety of work, and will pivot to meet market trends for projects. The most recent shift occurred for large scale hotels that bounced back in popularity after COVID . Because of this variety of and flexibility, they are very secure in their workload.
