Director, Advanced Instructional Programs (Wells APAC)
Qualifications
  • Possess skills in administration and supervision of advanced programs including but not limited to: APAC, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Program, Gifted Education, Title III and/or the Early College Program.
  • Advanced degree and/or valid state of Mississippi Administrative License (486, 487, 488, or 489 endorsements) preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
  • Knowledge of state law and MDE regulations pertaining to gifted education
  • Success in seeking, writing and obtaining grants
  • Knowledge of federal legislation and guidelines pertaining to the Title III Program
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with others people
  • Possess the verbal and communication skills necessary for establishing and maintaining rapport with personnel, parents, and the public
  • Knowledge of computers, related technology, and software
  • Possess experience for delivering and facilitating the professional development and mentoring for school administrators and teachers
  • Possess a working knowledge of best practices in instructional programming that will produce rigorous and relevant instructional offerings and practices.

Job Goal

The Director is to assist the District's Administrative Team in the planning and implementation of Advanced Instructional Programs at Wells APAC Performing Arts Center
Essential Functions
  • Coordinates the curriculum and implementation of the district's Advanced Instructional Programs
  • Coordinates Summer Advanced/Enrichment Academies for students
  • Assists with designing, implementing, and coordination of the district's Title programs
  • Coordinates the planning and development of professional development sessions on Advanced Programs for designated groups of JPS teachers
  • Evaluates all teachers providing visual and performing arts instruction at Wells APAC
  • Maintains Advanced Instructional Program's division budgets within grant guidelines and procedures
  • Organizes evaluation of all sessions and reports results to supervisor
  • Acquires/Develops needs assessments to measure implementation status of advanced programs and supporting professional development offerings
  • Develops research based Advanced Instructional Program activities meeting districts' instruction needs, particularly as related to promising new strategies to develop implementation potential
  • Makes on-site school visits to observe implementation proceedings
  • Develops with appropriate district staff plans for sustainability of program
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

$72,805.00 - $90-480.00 annually
