Pay Range

$101,000.00-$138,800.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sr. Technical Service Engineer to join our Engineered Products (EP) group, based in either Waterville, Ohio, or Etowah, Tennessee. This role is pivotal in supporting EP's fiberglass markets by acting as the lead technical contact for customers and the subject matter expert on customer technical requirements. You will be the bridge between customers, R&D, and production teams, leading projects that drive new business and excellence.

General Requirements:
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert on selected market segments and customer requirements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer technical requirements, goals, competitor capabilities, and emerging technologies to create and implement effective technical sales strategies.
  • Build and maintain robust technical relationships with customer manufacturing operations by providing superior technical and administrative support.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key personnel across Operations, Product Management, R&D, Process Engineering, Commercial, and Customer Service teams.
  • Actively support ongoing and new technical projects.
  • Identify product and market trends, suggest new applications and products for development, and support new product development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct technical support to customers in North America for the Glass Fibers market.
  • Excel in understanding and translating the customer's technical needs and fitness-for-use requirements into JM products, designs, development, applications, and project management.
  • Act as the primary interface between JM's R&D engineers and customer employees for product application information and technical product details.
  • Offer pre-sales assistance, product education, and post-sales support.
  • Translate strategic growth opportunities into focused new product development projects.
  • Participate in customer product development processes, ensuring JM products are specified and aligned with JM's production capabilities.
  • Communicate market intelligence to support product and process development or modification.
  • Lead customer product issues through root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the Senior Product Manager - Glass Fibers NA.
  • Provide technical service to operations when customer issues arise for existing and new products.
  • Optimize existing products based on fitness-for-use requirements.
  • Stay updated on competitor technologies and product platforms.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or chemistry; chemical engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in the glass fibers or polymer industry preferred.
  • Expert problem-solving skills, with automotive-facing 8D/RCCA experience preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex technical needs into robust products.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Solid research skills, including the ability to understand and communicate technical information and statistical data.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to interact effectively with operations, customers, technical services, sales, marketing, and quality personnel.
  • Proven leadership skills to guide individuals or project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to work in a production environment and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Experience supporting an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Travel required: ~30%.
