Job Description
Purpose:
This class of positions encompasses responsible clinical and administrative work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility involving day-to-day tasks of an operating segment of the Radiology department in the delivery of radiological services. Operates x-ray equipment, develops images, and prepares radiological areas, equipment, supplies and contrast materials. Performs responsible supervisory, administrative and clinical activities, across all tours involving day-to-day supervision of those performing specialized imaging (General IR, Neuro IR, Cardiac IR) procedures with diagnostic and interventional radiography. May be required to perform these procedures, in a specialty area in which they are certified, as needed.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises the delivery of radiological services across all tours, in accordance with established standards and procedures, for the service area or unit.
Recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of radiological services.
Participates in the development of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary personnel and allied health care professionals. Demonstrates new or revised techniques, procedures and equipment.
May perform radiologic procedures, as required.
Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography).
Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings.
Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment.
Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs.
Performs research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of service.
May be assigned duties and responsibilities of immediate Supervisor in their absence on a temporary basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Assignment Level IV
1. Valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and
2. Possession of a current advanced-level certification in the appropriate specialty area; and
3. Two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with lower Assignment Levels, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
