We seek an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead complex mechanical construction projects throughout Sacramento. This leadership role oversees all phases of HVAC and plumbing systems on large-scale commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor project teams while ensuring top-quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee multiple large-scale mechanical projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Lead project planning, including design coordination, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and manpower forecasting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, general contractors, and subcontractors.
- Review and interpret technical documents such as drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Ensure projects comply with local building codes, safety standards, and company quality guidelines.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, schedules, and cost control measures.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure timely delivery.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to project engineers, junior PMs, and field teams.
- Support business development efforts by building strong client relationships and pursuing new opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience managing mechanical (HVAC/plumbing) systems within commercial construction.
- Proven experience leading large, complex projects from start to finish.
- Deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems.
- Proficiency with project management software such as MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Sacramento-area construction codes, permitting, and industry standards.
- Local candidates preferred or willing to relocate.
- PE license or PMP certification.
- LEED accreditation or sustainability project experience.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to manage project margins and forecasting.
