Sr. Oracle DBA

Sr. Oracle DBA is responsible for the availability, performance, integrity and security of client databases. Also providing database support for complex Enterprise projects, as well as performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility is creating, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting Oracle database servers in a 24/7 highly active environment.
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
• Be responsible for space management, backups, monitoring, security and maintaining ongoing performance of databases.
• Consult with application development teams on database administration considerations.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and meet tight project deadlines.
• Monitor and follow the work of other database administrators to ensure correct practices and procedures.
• Automate routine database tasks.
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions.
• Provide incident and problem management support, including 24x7 pager support rotation responsibilities.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Strong, proven Oracle Database Administration & Performance Tuning skills.
• Good knowledge and understanding of IT Infrastructure (Unix, Networking, IT Security etc.).
• Strong Automation & scripting skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and accept additional responsibility as per team needs.
• Ability to create, not just follow, existing processes and procedures.
• Excellent written/oral communication skills. Role requires preparing technical DBA documents.
• Willingness to work on a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines and business requirements

Qualifications

Experience:

• 8-10 years of Oracle DBA experience.
• 1-2 years of Software Development Experience is a plus.
• Experience working with Oracle versions 19c, 18c, 12c, 11g a must.
• Experience managing Databases in the Cloud is a strong plus.
• Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), ASM, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Strong programming experience in PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting and Perl/Python.
• Experience with Backup and Recovery using Oracle RMAN and Veritas Netbackup.
• Experience with SQL and Database performance Tuning.
• Experience with Database security, access management and monitoring.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• DBA experience with SQL Server is a plus.
• Prior Retail Industry experience is a plus.
