Staff Engineer - Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing, cross-functional QA automation team working across Web, mobile, DevOps, QA automation, and cloud platforms. This role requires a dynamic leader with deep technical expertise, a strong background in modern software architecture, Test automation expertice, and a focus on driving quality engineering through robust QA and automation strategies, especially for web and Point-of-Sale (POS) platforms at 7-Eleven IT.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a distributed team of developers and QA engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the technical lead for web and mobile projects, contributing to architectural decisions and hands-on development when needed.
• Oversee the development and implementation of QA automation strategies using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, NodeJS, Cypress, Appium, Playwright, JUnit, Postman, and others.
• Ensure test automation and quality processes are integrated into CI/CD pipelines and deliver strong test coverage for Web and Proprietary POS applications.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define requirements and user stories, translating them into executable work for engineering teams.
• Drive DevOps initiatives by managing infrastructure automation (IaC), deployment pipelines, and environment provisioning using tools like Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Expertise with cloud environments and architecture across AWS (Docker, EC2, S3, Lambda), Azure, and GCP, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
• Lead integration efforts with the enterprise platforms and contribute to innovative projects under store systems.
• Act as hiring manager and lead recruiting efforts for technical roles; support career growth through mentorship and promotion pathways.
• Promote Agile practices, facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous delivery in fast-paced, iterative environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software development with a focus on full-stack web and mobile technologies.
• Strong programming experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Node.js, Python, NoSQL (Mongo, Document DB, Couchbase Etc.,) and SQL-based databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Proven experience managing QA teams and implementing automation frameworks for web and POS applications using various QA Automation technologies such as Selenium, Cucumber, NodeJS, Cypress, Appium, Playwright, JUnit, Postman etc.
• Deep understanding of DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and tools like Docker, Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, JSON, Git, and test automation integration.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with experience leading onshore and offshore teams.
• Hands-on experience with SaaS platforms, cloud-native application design, and infrastructure security.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and cross-functional team collaboration.
