Position: QA/QC Manager (Quality Assurance & Quality Control Manager)

Reports To: Plant Manager

Location: Sulphur, Louisiana

Salary: $95,000 - $125,000

Job Title: QA/QC Manager

We are looking for a QA/QC Manager to monitor and evaluate internal production processes and company products, ensuring that the team maintains a system of quality that meets both internal standards and customer expectations. You will also lead and develop a team of 8 to ensure all QC, receiving, and tooling operations are running efficiently. Success in this role requires a self-driven, organized, and diplomatic leader who holds colleagues accountable for upholding quality standards consistently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Learn the company's mission, core values, services, and operational procedures.
  • Walk the plant floor daily with QC Inspectors to review parts, welds, fit-ups, etc., ensuring they meet internal and customer quality standards, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Shadow the Plant Manager to gain exposure to the QA/QC reporting process, including x-ray defects, visual inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), etc.
  • Begin preparing for re-certification tests (PT, MT, VT, UT, PMI).
  • Conduct audits of written procedures to ensure quality compliance.
  • Shadow the Plant Manager and/or Floor Inspector during customer interactions to learn how to handle a variety of situations.
  • Independently generate accurate NCRs on product discrepancies and create Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) covering all inspection points.
  • Meet with direct reports to assess their capabilities and identify areas for development.
  • Provide direct, honest, and fair reviews of quality compliance, documenting non-compliance, and recommending solutions such as additional training or clearer documentation.
  • Actively participate in pre-inspection meetings to ensure internal and customer standards are met.
  • Close NCRs, track corrective and preventive actions, and ensure equipment calibration.
  • Conduct annual NCR evaluations, proposing corrective actions to improve procedures and processes.
  • Independently interact with customer inspectors by scheduling, coordinating, and maintaining good relationships.
  • Research and present industry best practices to improve internal processes and procedures by partnering with other QA/QC managers.

Qualifications:
  • Leadership & Adaptability: Dynamic and adaptable with the ability to quickly pivot when competing deadlines or unexpected challenges arise, such as customer inspectors visiting or urgent progress reports. Capable of prioritizing and delegating tasks efficiently to meet expectations.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Proactively engages in problem-solving and process/procedure creation or updates, product inspection, and addressing shipping/receiving issues. Maintains a calm demeanor to instill confidence in the team and drive positive outcomes.
  • Self-Disciplined & Process-Oriented: Continuously works toward achieving the highest quality standards while maintaining an organized system to prioritize both personal and team workloads to ensure nothing is overlooked.
  • Experience: 3+ years in a quality control role within a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. Demonstrated experience writing reports, procedures, and SOPs in a quality control setting.
  • Certifications: NDE certification in PT, MT, VT, and UT (preferred).
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot technical and operational issues.
  • Management Experience: Experience managing a team of 3 or more direct reports (preferred). Experience managing a shop environment with tools and machines (preferred).
  • Education: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
