The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the pharmacy, managing pharmacy department staffing levels, monitoring the pharmacy daily inventory, ensuring the medication preparation and dispensing process is consistent with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, and works with pharmacy leadership to implement department and organizational goals.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of pharmacy services according to established policies, procedures, and protocols, consistent with government and agency regulations, and in collaboration with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Builds and maintains productive internal and external relationships to optimize operations and collaborates with other departments to develop pharmacy services
  • Selects, trains, monitors and evaluates pharmacy team members in their delivery of patient care services.
  • Works with pharmacy leadership and/or pharmacy purchasing agent to manage pharmacy inventory.
  • Prepares and manages pharmacy work schedule and maintains appropriate staffing levels
  • Supervises pharmacy team members in the preparation and dispensing of sterile and non-sterile medications (INCLUDING NIOSH HAZARDOUS DRUGS) ensuring all policies and procedures are followed appropriately and assists in all required record keeping.
  • Works as a pharmacist when deemed necessary by staffing and/or schedule demands.
  • Assists in resolving potential issues related medication use, inventory management, interpersonal conflict, quality and compliance.
  • Participates in all committees required by the organization and collaborates with other departments to identify the needs of the organization and the scope of pharmaceutical services required to meet those needs.
  • Keeps the other members of the pharmacy leadership team abreast of all inter- and intra-departmental pharmacy-related issues and activities.
  • Promote effective communication by cascading organizational updates and initiatives to pharmacy team members.
  • Contributes to the advancement of the profession and of the department through attendance and/or presentations at local, state, and national meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's Degree in Pharmacology, Pharmacy Science or related field OR Pharm.D. OR equivalent foreign graduate degree, required.
  • Current license and registration to practice as a pharmacist in New York State, required
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible related work experience to ensure familiarity with the clinical and administrative aspects of pharmacy practice, required. ASHP-accredited post-graduate residency training, preferred.
