We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee design activities for a College Campus project. This role involves managing the design process from pre-construction to project close-out, ensuring compliance with Division of the State Architect (DSA) guidelines, building codes, and project criteria. The Design Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to define project scope, resolve design-related issues, and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee design activities for a College Campus project. This role involves managing the design process from pre-construction to project close-out, ensuring compliance with Division of the State Architect (DSA) guidelines, building codes, and project criteria. The Design Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to define project scope, resolve design-related issues, and maintain quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct design activities for the College Campus.
- Lead design professionals in pre-construction, phase management, quality review, and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Serve as the primary interface between the CPT team and the Design team.
- Proactively manage and monitor the design process from planning to close-out and DSA certification.
- Ensure compliance with DSA guidelines, building codes, project schedules, budgets, and district standards.
- Collaborate with CPT members, Design Team, and District stakeholders to define project scope and resolve design-related issues.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of plans, specifications, cut sheets, schedules, and other design documents.
- Oversee the timely and compliant production, review, and sign-off of design deliverables.
- Provide Architects with clear and consistent direction regarding project goals, standards, site, schedule, and budget.
- Review and provide comments on DSA construction change directives (CCDs) during the construction phase.
- Guide the Design Team through the DSA review process and evaluate impacts of design changes.
- Manage DSA Box submittals and perform other assigned duties.
- 10 years of design experience.
- 5 years of experience with DSA or OSHPD design-related projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of DSA requirements and relevant provisions of the California Public Contract Code.
- Experience in design and design management of major K-14 or higher education projects.
- Understanding of Sustainable Design Principles.
- Understanding of Risk Management principles.
- DSA or OSHPD Certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or Registered Architect certification.
- Experience in risk management.
- Experience with K-14 design.
