Position Summary Information
Summary
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy will be a proven academic leader with demonstrated ability to engage with faculty and staff constituencies to develop and execute a vision in support of the college's broad and innovative educational, research, clinical and public service missions. The Dean is responsible for providing overall leadership, vision, and strategy for the College of Pharmacy and is expected to engage in productive collaboration with other members of the academic and administrative leadership team both within the College of Pharmacy, across the University, and within the community at large. The Dean will maintain collaborative relationships with other clinical partners, universities, foundations, state elected officials and staff as required, and organizations to ensure the continued success of the college.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Vision: Serve as the chief executive and academic officer for the College of Pharmacy, provide administrative and academic leadership for the programs and missions of the college. Provide direction and leadership in the development of strategy, leveraging organizational strengths and relationships to execute on key operating/financial metrics and market growth. Develop and execute resource plans and budgets to further the college mission and, concurrently, be fiscally efficient and effective to ensure a positive revenue status for the college. In conjunction with the executive management team, maintain and oversee an organizational structure that provides guidance and oversight to meet the strategic goals of the College of Pharmacy.
External Relations and Community Engagement: Strengthen and/or create strong and sustainable partnerships with regional health care systems, community pharmacy organizations, and industry that will bring value to both NEOMED and the partners. Engage in meaningful fundraising activities to encourage philanthropic giving to the college; act as the 'face and voice' of the college to external, public and community constituents. Engage in state and national organizations to increase awareness of the College of Pharmacy and advocate on issues of relevance and importance to the college. In collaboration with the Senior Executive Director for Admissions and Financial Aid and the Chair of the Admissions Committee for the College of Pharmacy, develop and implement an overarching community engagement and recruiting strategy for new students, recognizing the importance of a broad representation of backgrounds and experiences while operationalizing the concept of "From Ohio, For Ohio."
Employee and Student Success: Openly support policies and practices that recognize the importance of recruitment and retention, development, and talent management to ensure the leadership, staff and faculty required for a successful college. Create and support a culture of collaboration and integration that ensures excellent education and research which fosters innovation and creativity.

Qualifications
- PharmD degree from an accredited college or university with decanal experience in pharmacy education
- Minimum of five years' experience in pharmacy education administration and leadership positions
- Licensed or eligible for a pharmacy license in the State of Ohio
- Eligible for appointment at the rank of Full Professor in the College of Pharmacy

- Develops a compelling vision for the future of the College, its educational model and curriculum, its research, and its model of collaborative, community-based health care, in coordination with the other Deans and the President and in alignment with the vision for the University as a whole.
- Experience in working collaboratively with higher education Admissions teams on recruiting and growing enrollment. The ability to develop and implement innovative recruiting and enrollment strategies to build and sustain high College of Pharmacy enrollment.
- A track record of outstanding accomplishments in pharmacy practice.
- Demonstrated leadership in building community partnerships and experiential opportunities for students in community-based dental care to different constituent groups. Expertise at building internal and external relationships and have a demonstrated track record of fostering collegial relationships with faculty providers, academic figures and health care leaders, diverse management teams, community organizations, and state and local government.
- The ability to sustain a comprehensive pharmacy science research program that focuses on relevant pharmacy research areas of benefit to the residents of Northeast Ohio and others. This would include extramurally funded basic, translational, population health and/or clinical research.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing student, staff, and faculty diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion.
- Strong managerial, operational and fiscal acumen in pharmacy education. Experience with budgets, financial planning, market research and strategic resource allocation. A clear understanding of the "business", challenges, and opportunities in the pharmacy profession and the ability to articulate the value of pharmacy academic programs to a wide range of constituents.
- Recognized as a respected member of the pharmacy education and professional community. A record of engagement in pharmacy state and national organizations and efforts. The ideal candidate will have held a leadership position in one or more of these organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in sound program and resource management as well as effective budget development and execution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain open, transparent, and effective lines of communication with physicians, scientists and academic leaders both within and outside of NEOMED.
- Ability to build trust and transparency across all internal and external stakeholders.
